Tomorrow I am starting a new job, not just a job, but a career. When I first started doing VR 5 years ago (I had done straight typing for 10 years), I figured out pretty quickly that I was going to hate it and more than likely not have a job within the next 10 years or so or be completely broke. So, I went back to school, worked full-time and raised my small child all by myself. It was hard work and there were days I wanted to pull my hair out and quit. It is now five years later and I have my bachelor's degree in business with a minor in human resources. I did my internship at hospital in the human resources department and they offered me a full-time job. I start that job tomorrow working as an HR rep. I'm looking forward to starting at the bottom and working my way up. I get my own office, get to interview people and interact with other human beings!! I hope to some day be an HR Director and I believe I will accomplish that. I am only 37, so I've got a long working life left and I am so happy I made this decision years ago. I will not miss being an MT and all the stress of the pay, being laid off, new accounts, losing accounts, VR, etc. I wish all of you the best of luck in your MT career or whatever you chose to do. Just remember that if you want a change in your life that you have to make that change yourself, no one will do it for you.
Good luck all
