I listen to music very softly in the background while I work. I think it helps me concentrate. I listen to mostly oldies or modern country. What, if any, do you listen to?

Just instrumental, easy listening or classical on low-ish volume. No singing. I find singing to be competing noise when I'm transcribing.

A space heater. LOL

Even in the summer my feet get cold, and i like the white noise. It helps drown out distracting noises.

We lived about 3 blocks from the hospital where she worked. When she was on call she'd have the scanner on, and if she heard something in the area that was going to be routed to the hospital, she'd be on her way!

Most of the time she'd beat the EMS to the hospital. The call for her to report to the hospital would usually come after she had left the house!

I'd almost forgot about that :-)

On those rare occasions you have to re-listen to a word, you finally get the audio right up to that spot and that is when the dogs bark? Never fails!

.....it never fails. They can be super quiet all day, and then when I REALLY need them to be super quiet, that's when the barking barrage starts (OR when I'm on the phone with my supervisor or technical! Still love ' em though (the dogs, that is)!

OMG. Talk about noisy pets. My parrots. The one in particular. I do finally have an office in a more secluded part of the house, finally.

It used to be embarrassing if my supe called or I was in a conference call. One time, the host of a conference call said, "Would the person with the parrot please mute their phone..." LOL.

They seem to know when I really need to listen to my work and always choose that time to make with the happy screaming. Nice to meet another parrot owner.

We are down to 2 parrots--the one that screams the most is the blue-crowned conure. The other bird is an African Gray. He just makes nice whistles and things. We used to have a red-lorred Amazon---OMG....yikes.

I also used to have a cockatiel. He wasn't too noisy, but he liked to walk on my keyboard!

It seems counterintuitive, but it gives my ADD brain something else to concentrate on in the background. My line count has gone up, so I will continue.

I just ordered Tears For Fears' entire back catalogue, and I'm listening to that lately. It's good stuff. If you only know them from the 80s, well, that's only the beginning.

I have a medical report from a hospital that downloaded into my music library for my Ipod. Even if I check the box that I don't want it, it will still download again whenever the IPod is plugged back in. Now granted some doctors have a really sexy voice (you know what I mean), but you still can't dance to it. Does this happen to anyone else? I bet I'm not alone. Your new pay plan is cruel. I would rather miss out on having a quarterly bonus and getting emotionally destroyed once in a quarter rather than every single day. This doctor is absolutely disgusting. I have umpteen jobs for him and he is constantly coughing and snorting up his snot. I can't take it any more. It is so gross. He sounds like a snorting PIG. On top of that, he's constantly forcefully flipping through the pages of the chart and it must be right near the microphone because it feels like it's going to break my eardrums. The MTs on my account have constantly complained about 1 doctor on VR who does not belong there!! We are simply typing his reports for the lesser pay. I got a major error (wrong date within the report) on post audit. I want to make sure I really did make that mistake -because it doesn't seem like the usual mistakes I make. Is there a way to go back and relisten to the report and/or look at the report and the demographics for that patient again? Thanks -- ...

I don't see a way to do it in Fiesa like my TSM said, unless I'm missing something. That would sure stink if this weren't possible. For example, if you think you need a reversal on something--it would help to be able to relisten to see if you really made that mistake. ??? ...

According to a poster below which has apparently already attended one of the payroll meetings (as the poster posted) for nuance they have decided to keep the incentive part of all of our pay going with an exception that now you have to have over the industry standard of 98% to get a production based incentive. In addition (if this poster is accurate) they have again cut the overall pay from 8 and 4 to 3 3/4 AND 7 1/2. This is nothing but a bunch of crapploa...an MT who is now getting ...

I am working on an account where I have had literally no training, on a program where I have had literally no training so I have no idea if it is verbatim or not. The doctor dictates "He was seen last by me in December of this year." Okay, it was actually December of last year or 2011, I would assume. Would you transcribe exactly what he says or would you change it to December 2011 or December of last year? Thanks so much!!! ...
