Have you ever compared MModal to a sweat shop? I have over 30 years experience as a transcriptionist. I was quoted 10 cents a line for straight transcription and did not get the doctors I was promised I would get. When I question my CCM, she says "you are primary". I'm a Nuance employee and know that our companies are constantly competing to be the biggest and (probably) cheapest out there. The pay is rotten just like everywhere else, but I have always been treated with complete respect by my bosses and co-workers. As I was working today I thought about speech versus transcription, and it occurred to me that I was transcribing a good deal in each speech report I "edited." Why is transcription done for a full report paid any differently than transcription done in a speech report?
