TransTech versus Nuance? - Dissatisfied

Hello, fellow MTs! I have been working for Nuance as an MT for 4 years, and becoming progressively dissatisfied with them. I noticed that TransTech is hiring. Can anyone tell me how they compare? I already emailed their recruiting department, but would like to get some feedback here as well.

They have zero clue with regard to management of work flow and the pay is in the toilet! In addition, they are mean with their QA/QC procedures and will do ANYTHING to keep us from receiving any kind of bonuses.

The problem with your question is that TransTech is in the middle of a buyout/merger at the moment. We don't know what to expect in the immediate future. At the moment we have unanswered questions involving PTO hourly rate, new insurance, if line requirements are going to change, etc. I have been at TT for many years and have been happy, but most buyouts don't bode well for MTs, so at the moment I think we are all holding our breath.

I have never worked for Nuance, but doesn't sound like a nice place. No one has ever docked my pay for QA at TT. However, don't know that that won't be changing.

Maybe this isn't as obvious as I would think, but here goes. When a buyout begins and some things change, even little things, like an email that says it is happening---SOME PEOPLE RUN and immediately QUIT. That's fine, some people can't stand change, some people are offended, some people have better opportunities and are thinking "now's the time," and I am sure some may be right, run, run, but nonetheless, the company still needs people to do the transcription, thus, hiring.

I'm here and I don't see much has changed.

I currently work at TTM. I worked at Nuance for approximately 5 months. I can tell you that I MUCH prefer TTM. With that being said, they just had a "merger" (really a buyout whatever they want to call it) with IMedX. As of this minute, nothing has changed but our pay schedule, but I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop on that. I highly doubt we'll keep the pay and work flow we have now for very long as IMedX outsources to India. I have to say I would still take my chances though. I hated Nuance with a passion. It was a wretched company to work for.

Thanks for your feedback. What exactly made you hate Nuance so much, and why do you like TTM so much better? How long ago did you work for Nuance? Sorry for all the questions, just want to make an informed decision before deciding to go somewhere else! I inquired about their salary and it's about the same as what I'm earning now.

Does anyone know or maybe even make an educated guess...how much a hospital might pay per line to have Nuance do their reports? We are guessing somewhere .12 to .15 upwards to .20/line. Of course they are claiming that this will save them all sorts of money and we'd like to know if they are really going to save as much as they think they are. As I was working today I thought about speech versus transcription, and it occurred to me that I was transcribing a good deal in each speech report I "edited." Why is transcription done for a full report paid any differently than transcription done in a speech report? In other words, why don't I get paid my transcription line count for the characters I am transcribing in a speech report, particularly since a great deal of these speech reports require almost re-transcribing completely due to ...

Two words that come up often for questioning. These are strictly used in an orthopedic setting. Stedman's and Dorland's list end point and hand grip HOWEVER the office transcription manager, girl is asking for me to correct this to endpoint and handgrip. She is only basing this on what an old medical transcription company she used to work for had her typing. I would rather base it on the medical reference. According to a poster below which has apparently already attended one of the payroll meetings (as the poster posted) for nuance they have decided to keep the incentive part of all of our pay going with an exception that now you have to have over the industry standard of 98% to get a production based incentive. In addition (if this poster is accurate) they have again cut the overall pay from 8 and 4 to 3 3/4 AND 7 1/2. This is nothing but a bunch of crapploa...an MT who is now getting ...

Hi there fellow TT MTs:) Do any of you ever have trouble with QA at TT. Lately, I have been afraid to send anything in for correction, particularly 1 person, who dissects my reports down to crossing my Ts and dotting my Is. I know she is probably just doing her job well, and I know being in QA is a hard job, but this is getting depressing. I am not a newbie by any means, and I know my job well. I started a new thread because I noticed your question about TransTech waaaay down at the bottom of the page and with no responses yet, so here goes... In my personal experience, nothing has changed from the older posts. Even today, I have 4 accounts and I'm currently waiting for work to come into my queue. Usually there are lots of posts here about TT. Just wondering what is going on now. I was hired and supposed to start work there, but could not work with satellite. For some reason, the EditScript would not come up. So I got rid of satellite and had Verizon Wireless installed. So far this is working pretty good. Much better than satellite -- knock on wood.
