Well, well. Another long, boring Monday at Acusis - without a single, solitary report to type.

They keep telling us "work is light". "It's a holiday". (Well, I guess somewhere in the world, it might be a holiday.) If work is REALLY that light, how on earth is this company staying afloat? Surely the bigwigs at the top aren't taking a cut in pay, like we peons are, when there's "no work". Where is THEIR pay being generated? Oh, wait. Let me guess. Must be all the work being re-routed to INDIA, or maybe their language-mangling SR software.

Keep up the good work, Acusis. Be sure to let us know someday how you're managing to spin flax into gold, because I think the MTs would like to see some of the action, as well, instead of the great big 0's in our bank accounts.

I can usually get my lines in, except for yesterday.

Work is really light, though. I don't understand it at all. I was looking through my records from last year and October was very busy.

I have 3, + my primary. All are "dry". At least - according to them, anyway.

Just the other day there was a story about unemployed workers over the age of 40 on 60 Minutes. They were saying that the national unemployment rate is 9.7%...BUT, that doesn't include those that have expired the UEBs and those who have had to go part-time from full-time. When counting them, the figure for unemployed and underemployed is 17% of our population. They had about 70 unemployed people there over the age of 40 who have been unemployed for over 2 years. And they were all degreed college graduates.

It's not as easy jumping from job to job as it used to be...especially if one is over 40. I worked for 3 companies in the past 3 years. All of them have had the same outcome. Plenty of work at the beginning and then no jobs consistently until I move on. I really am beginning to think that a lot of these companies overhire to clean out a backlog for new accounts they sign on, and then there's nothing.

If you're at a company with a steady supply of work, consider yourself grateful, because a lot are in a different situation.

Are you a part timer? I was told that there was a "layoff" last wk of part time dayshift, although I have not seen anyone on this forum sharing any info regarding a layoff. Is it possible that your work pool has been disabled without your knowledge? I work in the evening and had steady work all nite until after midnight and I am also on 3 different accounts. I think you should contact your supervisor and ask what is going on. I am assuming the work is going primarily to full timers because they need be able to afford their insurance premiums. But then again, WHO KNOWS??

i'm full time, evening shift, 4-5 accounts. contacting supervisor fruitless, they've got a million excuses.

Hence the suggestion for a new name.

There have been alot of "excus-is" this year all the way around. I believe it is time to look elsewhere. Don't really see much encouragement on the boards, tho. Looks like we are all getting excuses, along with our pay cut in half to correct SR text, etc. :-(

I've been sitting here for only an hour and a half, and I AM SO BORED. I've never been bored with straight typing. There's something about typing that makes you feel like an active participant in the report. But sitting there and watching that stupid red box bounce around...you get nothing from it. Got rejection E-mail for in-house job I applied for. Then less than 1 hour later, got rejection E-mail for a government clerk position I had applied for like 2 months ago. Then later get E-mail with spreadsheet from supervisor with our lines, average lph, percentages, etc. Apparently there really are people doing 200-300+ lph. I have always gotten paid time-and-a-half for holiday pay on the Fourth of July, which is one of Medquist's holidays (or so it is listed as and always has been), and was told by CCM we would be paid time-and-a-half for that Monday's work done since even though it wasn't the fourth, it is when it is nationally celebrated. It means that if you do ACH you get your pay 9 days after you should have gotten your pay. Think about what that means for your bank account versus what it means for their bank account. questions I want to ask. I usually ask about direct deposit, but in light of my recent experience of constantly being paid late (and still not paid!), I am thinking about asking them if they have had or are having any pay issues, but then I wonder if that might be an offensive question to ask, plus if they do not pay on time or at all, it is doubtful that they would say yes, so .......
