Let's commemorate the holiday and let everybody in India know exactly how important we are.

Labor Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the first Monday in September, that celebrates the economic and social contributions of workers.

along the same lines. I figure if fast food workers can go on strike, it might not be a bad idea if the American MT's did also. See what a bind these MTSO's are in, in a few days. I think that's where Nuance is headed though, buying all these companies out and replacing American MTs with offshore, let's just make them do it on OUR terms.

I'd probably be on my deathbed, unable to even bring myself to crawl to my computer. We all know there won't be any work whatsoever to be had anyway, so what's the point. I could really see this suggestion working IF it happened to be a super busy day on the work end, but it will undoubtedly be like every other Federal Holiday, so slow that most of the ones scheduled to work will spend their holiday babysitting their computer.

I feel for you guys scheduled to work. I've had to do it so many times in the past, that I have become bitter about having to work holidays and miss time with my family, especially Christmas and Christmas Eve. I've missed too much time with my children and grandchildren, and those are times that we can NEVER get back. This J-O-B will always be here (in one form or another), but our families and the precious time we do get with them won't.

And lately with all of the "changes" implemented in our industry with regard to pay and punching time clocks, etc., we are now working more and getting paid less. We are now spending more and more time frantically trying to make ends meet. These people who are way up in this "corporation" have more time and money than they could ever need. Yet, in their greed, they continue to want more and more money, and they don't care who they have to step on to get it. Right now, they are stepping on all of us. Using us up and spitting us out when they can't get what THEY want. They know nothing about what it's like to long for time with children, ailing parents, and loved ones who we sometimes have to put on a backburner in order to do a job that is so thankless.

Love to all of my fellow MTs out there. God sits high and looks low... The greedy corporate leaders of America will one day pay for their greed, and it won't be at the expense of the lowly American workforce that they've managed to make slaves out of. So far, God has taken care of me and my family, even though I'm still stuck in this horrifying nightmare of a job that never seems to end. I know that something good awaits me sometime soon, somewhere down the line.

especially on Labor day. My kids are home, i'm home. if I run out of work I hang with them or study school work. NBD. it's not like I have to drive an hour to work and then get sent home. Now Christmas, Thanksgiving, yes I do see why people get upset about those. Hubby can't work (he's DOD so they are closed) but he would if he could. As do I. I'm just thankful to have a job in this economy.

The big fat deal is the nonexistent compensation - for giving up a holiday weekend. Nope, not me.

And I don't care how bad the economy gets, there's no way I'm thankful for this ripoff, scam-artist job at this evil company. If they would man up and fire me, at least I could collect unemployment, and be able to afford next week's rent and groceries, for a change.

I'd sure love to know what extra $$$ you'll be getting from Nuance when there's no work to be found... They don't pay you to sit around and watch for work. They only pay you for what you do, and THAT isn't even enough to add up to extra $$$.

IF I were to work on a holiday, the pitiful amount of pay I'd receive would probably be going toward "making up" time lost during the regular work days I sat looking at an empty screen with no work available.

Oh and while I'm on my soapbox, at least you have a 2nd income (husband) so you can "enjoy" the extra $$$ and those little breaks to "play with the kids" when you have no work available. MANY of us do not have that option available to us. MOST of us are working our asses off to make ends meet. This job isn't a "part-time, extra-cash-in-pocket" job for us. It's our livelihood unfortunately.

It may be a pittance but any extra $$$ is more than I would normally get. I try to teach my kids to take advantage of the opportunities that present themselves. I work the holiday, get what work I can and earn what extra I can. If I run out of work, I do not stress it but go in the other room and enjoy my family's company then. Not a big deal.

I'm planning on a power failure, myself. - Even my phone will be "out".

We wait for work. Let them wait for us to start work. We have spent years training the speech wreck and training the Indians how to do our work. Letâ��s do our own beta test and see how prepared they are. Letâ��s see what they do. Letâ��s see how TAT is affected and see how good the quality is coming out of India with no US support. Bet Nuance will change from 99% to â��good enough.â�� Affect patient care? We are not direct care providers. The direct patient care providers should be able to handle a computer hiccup. They have a contingency plan in place for outages. Itâ��s called paper documentation and talking to each other.

Our lives have been disrupted for years. Disrupt theirs. The sooner we start the more unprepared they will be. Read this and participate immediately to the extent you are comfortable. Whether itâ��s an hour or two, half a day, all day, or a couple of days. Timing it with their requests for extra help may not be enough, but a place to start.

If we continue to take it, they will continue to dish it.

I'm going ahead with taking tomorrow off. Then - I thought about it, and - SM

I have always gotten paid time-and-a-half for holiday pay on the Fourth of July, which is one of Medquist's holidays (or so it is listed as and always has been), and was told by CCM we would be paid time-and-a-half for that Monday's work done since even though it wasn't the fourth, it is when it is nationally celebrated. It means that if you do ACH you get your pay 9 days after you should have gotten your pay. Think about what that means for your bank account versus what it means for their bank account. questions I want to ask. I usually ask about direct deposit, but in light of my recent experience of constantly being paid late (and still not paid!), I am thinking about asking them if they have had or are having any pay issues, but then I wonder if that might be an offensive question to ask, plus if they do not pay on time or at all, it is doubtful that they would say yes, so .......
