Transcenders using Encore ??? - sm

On the new platform will you be able to see your line count as you go along or do you still have to go look it up the regular way. At Webmedx it kept a running tab of your lines on the top of the page and you could kind of pace yourself. I really liked that.

Also, have they put out a schedule as to when each region will be going over to Encore?

Don't think so on the first, but not sure - and no to the second

at least as far as I know. I have asked, and the latest I heard, there was no schedule.

I did see a preview of Encore late last year, and there's a lot to like about it. No more blue I, and the ability to look up previous reports. Also, the QA folks will like it a lot because all the QA-ing is done in the platform, not in Word, which will make it much easier. Also, there will be the ability to see what changes have been made to a document, and who made them.

So is Transcend giving up on BeyondTxt? I thought it was their masterpiece?

No, Encore is just the newest version, and because - it is a major upgrade

they gave it a new name.

As I understand it, on the "front end" (what the MLSs see) it will be much the same, with the exceptions noted above, i.e. no more blue I. (I'm not sure whether the upgrade does away with the "light bulb" updater or not.) The really, really major changes are more on the "back end," where the QA and team leads and ROMs do a lot of their work. Before Encore (and in the regions where Encore is not yet in place), the "back end" is a messy hodgepodge that has evolved over the years, and requires using a lot of different programs, some of which are a complete pain in the . . . usual painful places. (A word to the wise: Do NOT accept a QA job for any region that is not yet on Encore. Trust me. I know whereof I speak.) Encore does away with that hodgepodge and makes it into one seamless entity.

I was in a meeting a couple of weeks ago, and when someone asked about Encore, we were basically told by management not to hold our breaths on the availability of it any time soon, and that it was being rolled out very slowly. I was very disappointed to hear that as BeyondText is definitely from the stone ages. Now your account may get it sooner than others, but I don't think my account will be getting it for a very long time based on what the ROM said.

And I, for one, am very glad they are not - pulling a Microsoft

or worse yet, an Apple, and rolling it out company-wide prematurely! As much as I'm looking forward to using it, I'd rather some other region have the dubious privilege of being the beta testers/guinea pigs to work out all the bugs! :D

I thought I found a good company to work for until I got a two returned checks from them in the mail. The first time I thought mistakes can be made but AGAIN my check was returned. That really upsets me because I work hard for this company and they give me a bad check. There is no excuse for doing this to an employee. Since PTers don't earn PTO, how do you handle taking days off? I'm considering a schedule that will involve most weekends (to supplement my FT job). While I don't need to work as much as they require (20 hours), I do need a little extra spending money. Will taking off a weekend day or 2 a month be a problem? I also was concerned about the statement in the handbook indicating that even as PT we had to put in an 8 hour day on the weekend. Maybe I'm the eternal optimist. My eyes are wide open, and I've been through previous crappy merger. Maybe The Worst Case will indeed happen. I'm just wondering. I've been with Transcend going on three years now and have never made my minimum lines for part-time. I've always just worked my shift. It was never an issue of me hitting my $450 or not. Now all of a sudden my job is in jeopardy because I'm not hitting it. Does anyone know if the 8-hour per weekend day requirement stated in the "handbook" online applies to part-time people? Did anyone ask about this in the conference call? Do they really expect people to work every single weekend and never have one off unless they schedule it off?
