I started with this company on Monday and I have over 30 years in MT.  Positives are straight typing, assighed work pool.  Negatives are getting pathology (never done it), rate of  pay depends on what work types your get.  They thow everying into the pool."  God forbid you dont have a report in immediately, I guess they dont want you to look anything up.  I averaged 500 lines a day.  I ran into internet issues yesterday, calling the cable company and the phone comany and on hold forever (over 2 hours), I recieved positive feedback from this company as welll; "dont worry about being slow, we understand."  Wednesday, I did 500 lines, which for someone on a "new accountthink is decent.  Again dealing with internet yesterday, being on a cell phone which is my only phone and 4 hours  of talking to techs in INDIA,  I was  exhated by 8 EST.

I contacted via email my supervisor this morning.  No response over HOURS.  I then get an email from the recruiter, stating that I was terminated from their contract, I guess that if you want to take a break or look things up, then they count it against you.  Again, IC bordering on employee sttatus, no benefits, and paper checks.

I would be interested in seeing if you get any comments on this post other than mine. I'm familiar with the company you are speaking of, and what you describe sounds nothing like the work ethics they promote. I do know that they don't hire people who just want something to do when they have nothing else to do. I have a sneaking suspicion that's the situation you ran into. Nevertheless, I am going to keep a watch on this post to see if anyone else had any similar experiences, as I'm currently considering going back into transcription after taking nearly a year off due to family matters, and Encore was going to be my first phone call.

By no means am I a "slacker, or looking for hobby work." I have been an MT for well over 30 years, and worn "many hats" in this business. I gave the company a schedule of the hours I would be available. I ended up losing my internet for several hours and making phone calls as to why the internet was down. I did not contact the supervisor Thursday evening because by that point, I was extremely tired and frustrated. I did contact the supervisor by email and by phone twice, as well as contacting the person who hired me. Approximately 3 hours later, I got an email stating they needed someone "reliable," and someone "more productive." I started with them Monday afternoon and on Tuesday and Wednesday had done over 500 lines each day. This is with learning a new platform and becoming familiar with a work type I had never done (pathology). I guess they expect their INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS to "adhere to a schedule," and forget about emergencies arising. They also had changed their pay rates effective Monday and the last thing I found odd was the fact they did not offer DD and you could cash/deposit your check after a certain time when you received it. To me, that suggests cash flow problems. No office staff either.

would be running around the office like a chicken with her head cut off. She would ask some of the MTs to wait to cash their paychecks until she could transfer some money from her savings to the business account. She never asked me because I would not have done it. She used the business money for personal use all the time and didn't have a payroll account setup. It was her company but she had a obligation to the employees to make sure they were paid. I didn't stick around too long after I saw her doing that.

People like that have no business being in business. For one thing, the IRS really frowns on comingling of personal and business funds. I think you were wise to leave. I am never sorry to see businesses like that one fail because people who are ill-prepared and mistreat their MTs (and not paying on time IS mistreatment, in my book, give all small MTSOs a bad name.

Yet another follow up to my original post - OP

I got a call late yesterday afternoon from " G", the suppoosed owner of the company. I has asked that my check be sent via Paypal, as I have a Paypal account and where I live, it is extremely difficult to cash a chek. "G" was extremely rude on the phone; I tried to ask her why her company did not offer direct deposit and she started yelling at me. I called back to at least try to get the name of the bank, thinking it might be BOA or Wachovia. No such luck, when I tried to do a search on this bank, NOTHING came up. I called my bank as well as a large bank in my local area and neither bank had heard of this bank.

This to me sends yet :another flag;" again, instructions as to when to cash or deposit checks etc. This particular person also has an "assistant,: and hearing her name, I believe that she had another company at one time and I have a feeling, she restructured.

Transcenders Using Encore ???

On the new platform will you be able to see your line count as you go along or do you still have to go look it up the regular way.  At Webmedx it kept a running tab of your lines on the top of the page and you could kind of pace yourself.   I really liked that. Also, have they put out a schedule as to when each region will be going over to Encore?    ...

Encore Gave Me Bad Paychecks
Aug 07, 2013

I thought I found a good company to work for until I got a two returned checks from them in the mail. The first time I thought mistakes can be made but AGAIN my check was returned. That really upsets me because I work hard for this company and they give me a bad check. There is no excuse for doing this to an employee. I have not been contacted about this check and I just quit because enough is enough. This is very dishonest and unprofessional to say the least. I have a family to take care ...
