Odd message from Transcend management about all the weather issues today, including the ones around the world. So, does that mean the offshore transcriptionists may have been affected by the earthquake and the tsunami? Funny. We're good enough for the overflow from offshore? What kind of message is that?

I believe that they were speaking about the waves from the tsunami hitting the west coast at noon PST today and it's unknown whether MTs on the coast will have power outages due to it or flooding, etc.

just to be on the safe side, canceled some of the ferry service on San Francisco Bay, but they seem to think if we get anything, it'll just be some odd currents, and possibly unusual rise in water level. Right now, though, it's actually lower than usual in the North bay, but then again, I think it's low tide. Still, better safe than sorry. What blows me away are all the idiots that are jamming the roads trying to get TO the beach in Half Moon Bay to watch the waves. Cops keep having to chase them away, thus foiling the Law of Natural Selection's attempt at culling the herd.

The news is all over the stations and in the papers about the damage to part of the California coast and how they lost people and a lot of boats that were pulled away from the docks by the severe waves and wind. One person taking pictures was swept away, and others died as well. Hundreds were killed in Japan. It also affected Hawaii. A Tsunami has as much force as a jet airplane.

at about 7 a.m. local time, warning to stay away from the beaches, because there might be waves as high as (gasp) 2 feet.

I live on the coast, but pretty far up the hill and at least a couple of miles inland. I've been doing this thing called "earning a living" (perhaps some folks have heard of it) so haven't had a chance to actually be one of the morons going down to LOOK at the ocean....

One Facebook friend posted that some of the boats in the Santa Cruz yacht harbor were damaged, mostly because they were not moored correctly in the first place.

You can call every number in the directory and never get anyone who answers a phone. E-mails are not answered or are answered by a short curt, almost very nasty reply. If you complain about this editing stuff you get told just be glad you have a mess or you would not have a job. I had to retype a 15 minute editing job because the editor decided it was doing an exam for an obstetrics patient and it should have been for a neurosurgery patient. It was for using follow up instead of followup (I know better) and then omitting the word "the." I'm going back to school to get out of transcription. I currently do QA. I have a 2-year degree in health information technology and am trying to figure out whether to go get a Bachelor's in information technology and health informatics or go for a business degree with a healthcare management emphasis.
