Are they out of their ever-loving minds?
Anyone would be better off at a beginning clerical job that requires no skills at $10 per hour PLUS a couple of benefits, even if that just means you are an employee and have your taxes (i.e., social security, medicare) and other state/federally mandated business costs covered by the employer.
It just keeps getting ugiler. And truly, are we supposed to believe that these companies are charging so low that they can't pay the MTs/editors a living wage that is appropriate for one's experience level?
Another thread discusses the legal job posting. Again, 0.005 cents per word is just ridiculous. We all know what the legal services charge or workmen's comp doctors. This is just a case of shifting profits to the suits and not sharing with the workers.
Any other business, whether it be manufacturing, customer service (accounting, legal, IT, etc.), does not cut their pricing below the actual cost of doing business. When the MTSOs tell us that they have to bid lower and lower to get the contracts, then they are either lying or lousy businessmen.
