I don't think that call lasted even a minute - that was just 1 part of the division - what happens if your account is with one of the other partners? I know if we send e-mails asking questions, we won't get a response.

I decided to wait for the second call. Sounds like it could have been handled in a email or robocall.
I hope this means Bayscribe will be upgrading to some newer Internet Explorer.
And of course, I hope my accounts stay with my preferred team.

One of the problems with having an all IC workforce is staying within TAT, so more "warm bodies" helps.
Personally, I wouldn't mind shift work. Frankly, I'd love to get back to being able stop work after 8, 10 or 12 hours.

Shift work with a set schedule does not guarantee there will be work available during your shift.

but there has been shock and dismay when OTI was hiring a few month back and apparently problems covering weekend accounts, etc.
I certainly miss being able to get up at 3 or 4 a.m. to make up hours that got lost due to sudden errands/power outage, what have you. There are a lot of ways to set shifts and most transcription shifts I think still have some flexibility.
Where did you glean that this was likely in the offing?

This is from the Company Overview section of the other Mercedes part of the split:
âWe constantly optimize our resources to keep costs down ⦠and we pass that on to you! And thatâs how we are able to match and/or beat the offshore rates. Oh, and did we mention we are 100% U.S.-based?â
Opinion: People living and working in America need wages to pay for an American cost of living. If he can match and beat offshore rates, we are only guaranteed to make him rich and struggle to take care of ourselves. I am not interested in feathering his retirement nest.
Opinion: What a lack of professionalism on his part to have his wife send out the information regarding the conference call when he is the president of the company and could have appropriately addressed this himself via email.
Opinion: Not being able to ask questions during a conference call is a power play when an individual does not feel competent in his/her ability to discuss items of concern frankly and intelligently with those whose lives are being impacted by the changes forthcoming.
To the owners that are splitting:
1. One would expect more concern from you for those of us who have worked together and answered all your emails and requests for account help to catch up work for you. Yes, you, lest you think we do not realize that you have profited greatly from our hard work to keep TAT and to uphold the reputation of the company we have contracted with because we are professionals and care about our work and the company we represent in that work.
2. Perhaps you could actually have all your proverbial ducks in a row before you begin to tell people dependent on their work for you about upcoming changes and present a professional unified front with all the information available in written form rather than bits and pieces disseminated in an unprofessional manner that only cause unrest. Perhaps you are unable to provide that information to us because you have not fully developed your exit strategy and lack proper planning.

Suspect second-thoughts after the announcement went out about the "inadvisability" of making job-related promises "hastily." Suspect details are not finalized and this is like some "community property" split that needed to be announced in anticipation of the rumor mill.

I worked for them for 3 years. Loved it. I was on the big ER account that starts wtih "T." They had to have known for a long time that they were losing that account. Questions were being asked about why the workload was decreasing. No one would answer any questions. Then finally one day they said they called the facility to ask what was going on and were told the facility went to a "point and click." Oh please..... there are contracts in place. They had to have known, but they strung us along for months.
I have always liked the sisters, but liking someone does not pay the bills. sm - Out the door

I was disappointed in the way they handled the no-work situation with the T account, and they tolerate the hateful attitude of the 2 A's toward the MTs, so maybe this split is a sign that it is time for me to move on. I gave up on them as a reliable FT source of income a long time ago anyway. I am glad that they are not selling out to Nuance or one of those, just because I hate to see them continue to gobble up all of the "mom and pop" type operations so there is no choice left for anyone. Good luck to all who stay.

I nearly lost my house because they kept on stringing us all along with the "we are getting more accounts in September" story. And then they merged with another company. And this from people who tooted their horns about "keeping work in America." From that I learned to trust my instincts and only MY instincts. If it feels like something is about to happen, it probably is. Now is the time to take proactive action. Good luck to all involved.

That we will not be allowed to work for both concurrently? The way it sounds, it would appear we will have to choose one or the other. I guess a lot will depend on how the accounts are divided up.
Also, and maybe this is coincidence, but all of my accounts have been NJA all day. Kind of strange when they are expecting work loads to increase.....

On the email from the wife yesterday, it said "one or both of the companies," so I took that to mean that we could stay with just one of them or could choose to work for both.
My own accounts have been NJA quite often for at least the past few weeks now, perhaps even longer, so I think that whatever is going on to split OTI up into these two different companies has probably been going on for at least a while before we finally got the announcement.

QA Conference Call Jul 10, 2012So if you disagree with a QA score done within the last week of the quarter, you are out of luck. So even if they are wrong you lose your QA bonus for 3 months.
QA is horrific at this company and the quarterly thing is unfair.
