I could not find your previous post where you stated you had just been hired with Focus. I am considering applying but wondered if you have gotten started and what you think thus far. Thanks.

I have an invitation from them to test. There are grammatical and spelling errors on the test introduction/start page, I guess that's how they do it in India. I'll finish the test but also plan to stay put.

I have been working for Focus for about a year give or take. I was just as guilty as everyone else with misconceptions about the company. But the line rate I was offered was within what I was looking for and above average for QA industry wide, so I took the leap.

If you work within the boundaries of the United States, you actually never come in contact with anyone in India. When I first started here, our tech support was offshore, but that has changed and they now have onshore support.

As far as errors in the intro letter, I had been confused for quite a while, and it took me more than 6 months to realize that there was actually no R in the name of the company, and it really is Focus Infomatics and not InfoRmatics..I am sure that is probably not the error you are referring to, but was an amusing thought for me.

In case anyone decides to wonder, I am not a higher up trying to make the company look good, but a peon down in the trenches like everyone else. I have been on both sides of the fence as far as this company is concerned, and as skeptical as I was when I accepted the position, I really am glad that I did.

I have a question for all MedQuist MTs . . . I called them and was told that I qualified and passed MedQuist's test. That was about a week ago. I was told that I am still being "considered" and "reviewed." One recruiter told me that it would just be a matter of time before they could get through all of the paperwork. Does anyone ever get hired from these companies who are continually posting help wanted ads?!?!? I have applied to at least 15 companies posting ads for help only to sit here waiting for at least 5 weeks, so far, for an answer to any for which I applied! I have been a MT for 30 yrs. I had to stop working 4 yrs ago due to health issues, then finally had 2 surgeries which pretty much took care of the problem. I have two years experience but my experience is not recent. I did not graduate from a school or course, rather, I was trained by an MTE and by someone who had a general practice that they typed for. Eventually I was able to take over the general practice but had to give it up because my husband's health was critical.
