How are things at Transtech? - Looking for a job

Does anyone have current information on the working conditions at Transtech? Is their insurance okay? Do they have enough work?
Totally blows. - Malnourished MT

No work. Absolutely NO WORK. New payroll company totally and completely lame. Little communication from Management (except for the usual lies). HORRIBLE VR PAY AND PLATFORM.
Any questions?
Transtech and no work plus changes - TT low work
[ In Reply To ..]
This low work/no work has been going for the past year and gradually getting worse as all accounts are switched over to VR and machine getting trained. Also, I understand some lost accounts. Many of TT's accounts are just overflow accounts (or assigned-work accounts) from facility - so many minutes given to TT.
As far as the changes in payroll company, this happens EVERY year at TT. The newest one CANNOT be as dumb as the last payroll company who made horrendous errors in our personal information, etc. YUK!
Management only gives their MT's the answers she/he wants to hear -- NOT the full truth. MT's always kept in the dark about everything until the day before it happens, or sometimes the very day of the CHANGE. Very discouraging.
Quality transcription is another thing that has gone from TT - Malnourished MT

Really, the total CRAP I see in finished documents that VR has stuck in there and the poorly paid TT MTs have not caught is pretty frightening. Just one example:
In a list of diagnoses, "The patient has a history of ostial left ankle." WTF???? Looking back in records, it was fairly obvious the dictator had said "osteo" of the left ankle. Osteomyelitis, I guess??? But it certainly wasn't "ostial left ankle."
Sigh... GIGO. TT's new motto. Used to be a GREAT company to work for, which makes its demise even sadder.
I've been seeing the same kinda thing... - cc

I also think what's going on is that very, very few people are making enough money to get by on just their scheduled shifts (no work), so they log on at other times just to make their line counts, which takes work away from the other MTs, for whom there is now no work, so the problem is compounded. Supposedly the work is going to pick up, but it doesn't look like our pay will..! I only wish management noticed and cared. This has in the past been a terrific company to work for, and I agree, the QA in particular is so easy to work with.
If it's that bad, then why don't you just leave MalMT and - TTer

shut up about it. Do you really think that TT is the only company out there suffering from low work right now?

Sounded like someone hit a raw nerve - this board I thought was to vent your personal feelings and I do agree that all companies are suffering from lack of work, but everyone has the right to vent. It is therapeutic!!!

Hee hee. Just goes to prove my suspicion that all of life is junior high.

We are already being slammed, we don't need each other slamming because you don't agree with a post, or a vent, or whatever.

Sheesh, it was a joke. Don't go all "postal" now before reading the whole post-o, okey dokey?
Just my post for the day! :)
It wasn't directed at you, your post was the last one I read and just posted from there! nm - Sunshine State MT

I thought this board was a place for all of us to be able to vent and talk about our experiences, good or bad.
It seems to me that you are the one who needs to take a step back and check their attitude.
It would be so nice - Looking for a job

If the children stayed off of threads and just let those who want to reply to the post post. Everything on here seems to end up a poor version of adult romper room.
Thank you to those of you who answered my question. Trying to decide if it's as good as the bad or as bad as the good.
I actually currently work for TT... - so see my message.

Ive worked for TT for several years, and while the pay cuts are extremely difficult to take and it is nearly impossible if not absolutely impossible to make up the difference with VR, I still feel like it is a good company to work for.
I work on 1 large account and have a secondary, and while work volume has been low over the last several weeks, Ive had very few instances of being completely out of work for any length of time. Im not seeing a complete work stop or excessive work slow down (different than at other times with other companies in years past) across the board.
Also, I no longer have TT insurance as I found it privately for cheaper with a little time spent in research. The yearly change in payroll company is a pain, to say the least. It saves the company money/their part of employee insurance they pay to change insurance, but with the comments I have heard, it does not seem to be better nor was any or much savings passed onto the employee.
I work on eScription and Extext. While eScription is a quick learner and there are many reports with only average correction needed, the changing to different screens and waiting for things to download and no personal normals is a huge timekiller, thus making your overall line count decrease. Extext is better in this regard (few or quick screen changes and personal normals or standards), but I only work straight transcription with that for the time being with VR for that platform coming quickly Im afraid as well.
They are yay-sayers as opposed to nay-sayers in the supervisory positions and management, but I am pretty okay with that. When I ask my supe a question, she is very honest.
Also, as a huge bonus, TT has BY FAR the best QA in the biz...hands down.
Not sure why replies like this can't be the norm instead of the oddity.
Big changes in the field mean we have to adapt, I guess. Sounds like as good a place as any to adapt.
You are very welcome, Looking... - See Message

Having been an MT for about 20 years, I feel that TT really is a pretty good place to work. They do not pay top, but they certainly do not pay bottom. Also, if you have to choose between rah-rah and honest or mean and talked-down-to and honest, I think Id choose the former every time. I feel in general they leave me alone to do my work with minimal interruption, get back with me promptly when I have any questions, have decent platforms, have honest and compassionate supervisors and management and have the VERY BEST QA Ive ever encountered, even in the on-site positions Ive held.
Again, while I dont have much info on their insurance for you, if you are considering applying to this company, I think you are making a solid choice.
Good luck!
I wouldn't leave another job for them, that's for sure. - IMO, they have thrown MTs under the VR bus. sm
Considering making a move to this company. Spoke with owner and she sounds delightful. Just wondering if anyone has any info on the company...anything at all! Thank you! ...
I recently lost my MT job with a pretty decent company. It was due to lack of work. I know this is happening a lot these days, and I've been reading a lot of the posts here. I know that no field is perfect, but I have to do something. How many of you plan on (or can) stick around to see how things go, and how many of you are going back to school or getting into a different field? ...
Have ya ever wondered, WHY is it that we get "audited" when we are having really, really bad work days? Why does the "computer randomly chose" (ha!) the most difficult, awful report to review? My latest audit was on a dictator I had NEVER EVER DONE before, on a brand spanking new account, was 1098 minutes and ASR and ESL! I got an 84%. (Hey! as far as I'm concerned that should have been an A+++!! Least I gave them something that looked like a report.)

I worked for MQ many, many years ago when they bought the company I was working for. From reading this board, it appears some things never change and only get worse. All headers are now no longer counted in the line count. We're already out of work most of the time and now this. We don't get paid for cc's that we add or all the info on the pt before we ever start typing. I'd say when we do have work they're getting a lot of free work from us. ...

I know this b/c I specifically could not find a doctors name in the database for one particular job and I blanked it, wrote it down so I would remember the job number and what I blanked and when my corrections came through today, that name was filled in as if I put it there, there was no blank no more with a correction that I put in the incorrect name. I know that I blanked it. This is rediculous!!! I can't wait to find another job! ...

I have recently been switched to almost all back end speech, no problem, but when did the rules change? I was taught milligrams not mg, milliliter not mL, gravida II/para II not gravida 2, para 2. I noticed things starting to change at WMX when they bought that transcription company..what was it about 1 year or 2 ago. As changes were constantly being made, even our managers werent as nice as they used to be. I started there more than 7 years ago and it was great back then, but then after about 5 years, things started happening and none of the changes benefitted the MTs. ...
Anyone care to shed some light on how things are at Transolutions these days? Is there plenty of work? Thinking about this company and would love to hear current input from employees.
I have read the archives and saw that QA can be tough and M-Modal isn't the greatest software. I am working on M-Modal where I am now and it's not my favorite, but Transolutions at least pays more and I am hoping that they have more work than where I am now. ...

Thanks to all who replied. I wonder if my spellcheck is even turned on because the double words are not being caught. I have even wondered if the software is putting words in. I've been transcribing for many years but only started SR. I'm also worry that my brain is getting too old to spot discrepancies, yet in other areas of my life, errors jump out at me to the point of being almost an obsession.
