First off, I am truly disgusted with our government for allowing offshoring to such a degree that it has taken most of our jobs away. We have written and complained to no avail. We do need to do some things on our own too.
I recently went shopping for my son's school supplies. I read the labels to make sure things were made in America. Ink pens: The only ink pens I found made in America were Pilot pens, BIC were made in China. I bought the Pilot pens. I searched and searched for 3-ring binders made in America and most were made in Mexico or Taiwan. I did have to settle for one that was made in America from parts made in other countries. I looked for a spiral notebook made in America and was going to leave the store and look online when I found one that was made in the USA. Before I found it, I asked the gentleman if he knew of any made in America and he told me good luck finding that. Well, after I found it I tracked him down and asked him to please recommend that one to any other customers. We are looking for a camping stove for next year. Good Ole Coleman is now made in China. My husband has been searching online for one made in the USA with no luck so far. We will keep searching or do without.
I recently called a credit card company to find out my payoff balance. I immediately asked "Peggy" to transfer me to someone in the United States, which she did.
Clothes, good luck with that one. If you want jeans, Levi and Wrangler are made offshore. I actually found a site where you can get levis made in this country. The problem is that the price is ridiculous for a pair of jeans. To me, the company is raping us on the price and blaming it on the cost of making them here. $200 for a pair of men's jeans. LOL I used to work for Levi and trust me, they did not pay well, so they cannot blame it on the high cost of American labor. Fact is companies want to make more and more profits these days. I have seen some things where the companies are making 100, 200, 500 percent profits on products. They are using the line of bull that labor is too expensive in this country in order to line their own pockets.
WE need to do something about this since our government will not.
When I go to the grocery store, I spend a lot of time now finding things made in the USA. I have been doing this for the most part for awhile now, but I am really getting serious. Some of the products say "distributed" in the United States, but that does not mean they are made here. I am starting to do research online to find out exactly what products are made here and will do without if I cannot find something made here. We all need to start doing this. You can go online and do a search on products made in the USA. This will bring up some websites that list products made here. It will be heartbreaking to see that there really are not a lot of things made here.
Start researching. Do some research on the Korean FTA. Wow, this is what our government is doing to us, both parties. We need to complain and do what we can to stop this stuff.
I would appreciate if anyone else can list some products that they have researched and found made in the USA. It would help a lot of us out.
