FN posts yet another ad - x3 in a month

Yes, they do need help.  The work has gone from NJA to multiple notices of needing help on specific accounts. However, they are hiring for people to do speech recognition work on the M-Modal platform - their version of this platform.  See discussions below.  This platform is nonproductive and cumbersome.  If someone from this company can make as much money per hour on this M-Modal platform as they were on the previous speech recognition platform, please, by all means, step up and tell us how you are doing this. 

Of note, this ad specifies rates of pay and what they pay for.  They are in damage control.  They state that they pay for headings and subheadings. 

They no longer pay for any patient demongraphic information or carbon copies or signature blocks or anything that would be performed by an MT/ME in a demographic screen.  This all equals a decrease in pay for their current MTs/MEs. This ad also verifies that they have dropped their rates of pay.  No, there are never any increases in pay.

For years, their treatment of their MTs has been worse and worse. They think the MT is too stupid to realize that they are not getting paid for certain lines. I left them years ago when I got a correction back with the cover sheet and the line count on the cover sheet was different than the line count on my computer. How does that happen? And it was a significant difference. This industry is in deep trouble and it is practices like this and the threatening, demanding e-mails that continue to mark a decline of what was once a great profession. With the advent of SR and EMR, the MT has basically been thrown aside. Now the MTSOs like FN believe they are doing us a favor by throwing us a bone.

It looks like they are just digging themselves a bigger hole. They cannot possibly escape the truth of nasty supervisors and nastily worded e-mails, along with dropping income of their MTs/MEs. Repeatedly posting ads and then including more details does not improve the truth of how terribly this particular version of the M-Modal platform works.

I had a hard time believing they are not paying for the demographics... it takes me sometimes forever to get to the text screen. Residents leave off attendng. No dates, patient incorrect... searching for all that information, adding the attendng twice (one for attending and once for copy). The other problem is the editing - it is horrendous. Sometimes there is not a sentence that does not have to be corrected. Doctors having you go back up and add things to HPI,ect and that is not easy. you have to block it, move up, delete, yuck. A lot of times the sound is horrible, so fast you can't slow it down so you have to listen doubly hard and slower. That happens a lot (unless someone is getting the better dictation, that is possible, can't swear to it, but I have caught A in so many untrutch it is hard to trust anything she says, really disrespectful to lie to you and the nex week say something different). I have started saving her emails to document the "untruths." There is just too much editing to make any money and too many rules, I feel sometimes they begrudge having to pay us at all.

On M-Modal, none of the accounts have any demographic information at the top of the page. Do a preview of the report, then copy/paste into word) and do a line count. You are only being paid for the body of the report. You are being paid for the drop-down headings and subheadings within the report, which, of course, are clunky to navigate and you often have to add in manually.

There's a whole lot that we are no longer being paid for. And, yes, a lot of the things we do to produce a report take time. I would be willing to bet that FN charges the client for all sorts of things that we do not get paid for.

As for the supervisor you mention, everyone should have learned quickly to document all conversations with her and to save e-mails. She can be caught at her tricks once in a while. Of course, if you call her out on it and include someone else in that knowledge, you might pay for the pleasure of stepping on her toes.

Notice that her nasty e-mails are copied to all the other supervisors, so they already know she has a nasty tone to her e-mails to the MTs/MEs. They obvious have no problem with this management style.

Anyone who chooses to take a walk from this company most certainly should tell them why, including any particulars about the principal characters. Just my opinion.

anon2...you never add the attending twice...if the attending is dictating, there is only one signature line. No matter who dictates, you do not send a CC at the bottom to the attending; they get one automatically and QA will scream if they see you adding one at the bottom. The SR is so bad I think that offshore wanna be transcriptionists are doing it. Keep every email from EVERYONE. All of them lie. ALL of them. They are lying now too.

I wholeheartedly agree so much with everything stated. You better believe that FN charges for demographics, but do not pay us for them. As stated before, regardless of them paying, as stated in their newest ad, a whole big 4.5 cents a line (big woopity-woo!), using the Mmodal system that they are moving everything to, average hourly pay is probably about 5 dollars an hour. Who can live on that? And as an IC with no benefits! If they can actually keep the accounts they currently have, I will be surprised. Such horrid treatment to MEs results in lower motivation, higher turnover, higher training costs, lower skill levels, lower quality, and accounts canceling contracts and moving to a different MTSO (yes, there are way better out there, dear hospital executives/decision makers!)

Does anyone know if futurenet is still charging that ridiculous $25 fee for "overnight" delivery of pay checks? Someone should report THAT. I am betting that the CEO keeps that money as a little tax free slush fund. That can't be legal can it ? Anyone can get UPS overnight for $17...and futurenet charges $25? I am betting they got a corporate rate and keep the rest and do NOT report it as income...what else is it but income? When they get audited for treating an IC like an employee...the IRS is going to nail them on that fund! Hope it is enough to pay someone's bail!

Back when, they did offer snail mail as an option but the checks miraculously never appeared. Weeks go by...no check. The company would not send another either. They literally force you into the $25 fee in order to get paid at all. The $25 was for UPS delivery. The company does not give a thing about the MT...they don't care if you make any money, they don't care if you get paid. Maybe they can deport the CEO. Most of the tech team too.

I used to do snail mail and pay day is every other Friday... I got my check every other Saturday without fail. Have been direct deposit for about 4 years and it's always there around 2 am PST Friday morning, and in fact on Thanksgiving week this year it was there on Weds. I am NOT management. Just stating some facts.

Yes they pay every other Friday. Your first check will be by mail, maybe even your second, depending on how the payroll gal feels. She is not very cooperative and will make your life miserable. They DID have an issue a couple years ago where the checks did NOT get direct deposited and did not get deposited until the following Monday. They lied and lied and lied as to the reason - none of them had the same answer. NEVER had a check early, just Fridays. All that said, if you can actually earn enough on their new Mmodal system you will be lucky to get a check at all.

I have always received my check via snail mail with no issues, gets here usually on Monday. If it's late, I attribute it to the post office. I requested direct deposit maybe six months ago or more and I was told that is no longer available.

Twice my check was sent to the wrong address and instead of stopping payment on the check and reissuing, they did not pay me until the NEXT payday, which meant almost a month without a paycheck. They refused to do anything about it.

When the check did not get deposited via direct deposit until the following Monday (and after MANY phone calls) I was sent a new contract stating NOT to expect that checks MIGHT NOT be deposited on time (every other Friday) and I had to agree to that. READ YOUR CONTRACT. Oh, BTW - they originally sent checks only by snail mail or you paid $25 to get them on pay day and later told me they would not give a pay raise because direct deposit was a benefit and replaced a pay raise!

No matter how you are paid, there are no pay raises ever at FutureNet. Plus, the supervisor finds this amusing. I do not find this amusing that she laughs when the issue is brought up.

Of course, do any companies give out raises these days?

I am amazed at how many people ask the same question year after year about company after company.  Companies have until 1/31 to mail W2s.  The bigger the company, the longer it takes to finish up the previous year's books and have W2s ready to print.  It takes a lot of time to print, assemble, stuff, seal, stamp and mail an entire company's worth of W2s.  Smaller companies often take just as long because they don't have a large accounting department or the manp ...

I'm curious about all the posts regarding getting your 1099 if you're an IC. As an IC, a business person, you should already know what you've billed to clients (services).  You don't need to wait for a 1099 to file your income taxes if you've kept good records and already know what you billed out and what you received. I absolutely love seeing the posts of all the MTs obtaining their own clients!!! Please do not sell yourself short in pricing. It sells all of us short. It is very expensive to obtain and keep these, so do your homework and please do not accept work less than 11-12 cpls 60 cpl.
