I absolutely love seeing the posts of all the MTs obtaining their own clients!!! Please do not sell yourself short in pricing. It sells all of us short. It is very expensive to obtain and keep these, so do your homework and please do not accept work less than 11-12 cpls 60 cpl. If you will need to hire MTsto help you, you will need to charge more to pay for their salaries and QA'ing their work not to mention paying for dictatation system costs. You will also have to pay for any help out of your own pocket way before the client pays you.
I have taken over a few accounts, where the physicians state they get work much cheaper, but I have almost gone into bankrupcy or declined accounts because it costs me to work instead of making a profit.

In a response to other posts and experience, do not sell yourself short in doing so. I have several clients who tell me they paid their last transcriptionist 6-8 cpl. Why they would work for this low is beyond my comprehension, especially when you figure in costs and responsibilities that go with this. I could and would never work for this low amount. It cannot be done and underbids everybody else, forcing our wages even lower.
In response to the poster suggesting 10 cpl, that is too low, especially if the account is large enough to require hiring help, whom you will have to pay at least 8 cpl, and then completely edit 100% to voice behind them, which is very expensive. Add in costs of dictation capture, platforms, setup, etc.
I just wanted to say it is nice to read such positive posts. That was it.

A new ESL dictating a DS. Can't speed him up because he's too "new" (to this country?). He is spelling every other word!!!!!! I am amazed at how many people ask the same question year after year about company after company. Companies have until 1/31 to mail W2s. The bigger the company, the longer it takes to finish up the previous year's books and have W2s ready to print. that MQ sent out that stupid letter stating not to worry, we will still need MTs, and that off-shoring will remain one of many solutions (including VR).
