Any recent info Transcription, Technology, Support? - rock bottom
Posted: Jan 09, 2015
Interested in this company. Wondering about facts, recent (2014-2015) info on Transcription, Technology, Support.
QA: Punitive, reasonable.
Hours: Enough work?
Etc.
Some Info - sm

Workload - Fairly reasonable. My experience was that I sometimes ran out because when volumes got high, they would call for everyone and anyone available to get on and help and that help didn't end until the work que was completely empty so I would find myself running out of work 4 hours into my shift.
Hours - Everyone works 9 hour shifts and you get a 1 hr lunch break. If you are lucky to get a day shift position then that's probably not too terribly bad, but most shifts were second or 11 am to 8 pm. The 9 hour shifts are pretty much written in stone unless you are part-time.
QA - They can be wishy-washy in my opinion. I wont go into detail since everyone's experience varies.
Pay - Speech Rec 0.0321 per line for employee status and Straight typing 0.735. I suppose if you work a later shift then it could be a little higher, but you wont see 8/4 unless you are IC status.
Benefits - Too expensive so I didn't bother.
Platform - eScription, lines add up fast, VR was pretty good for the account I worked on.
I left there about a month ago, wasn't my cup of tea. Again, I wont go into detail as I don't want to start a riot. TTS MTs have been known to come out like wolves on this board attacking anyone with anything negative to say about the company. So I'll just leave it at that. Good luck on your search.
To "sm" Very good overview for TTS. - anon

Nobody wants to be a lamb nor a wolf, just an honest question and where to come but here. We all need to take what we need and then go forth and experience and learn in our own way. Nothing wrong with a wolf on this board either. Sometimes the truth hurts.
My experience is a little different. SM - Anon

I'm not being defensive; just that one's experience will vary depending on a lot of factors. As the saying goes 'mileage may vary.'
Workload - Rarely run out of work. My experience is that I may sometimes run out when an SOS is called because of high volumes which usually happens later in the day and overnight, but I have another account and switch over to that one. I rarely run out of both accounts at the same time.
Hours - Everyone works 9 hour shifts and you get a 1 hour break. I work noon to 9, and love that hour which you can take in increments. I usually take a couple of 10 minutes breaks and a longer break for supper. If I don't use the whole hour, I usually knock off early. As long as I put in my 8 hours keyboard time, no one has said anything.
QA - In my opinion, QA has been fair. If you follow client specs, you'll be okay. I've even gotten prompt QA reversals when they have been wrong.
Pay - I make a tad more than the previous poster because I work a midday shift.
Benefits - I found insurance to be reasonable for a single person compared to what I'd pay on the private insurance market. There are 3 plans to choose from with varying deductibles.
Platform - eScription, lines add up fast, VR is pretty good for the accounts I worked on. Having been on my 2 accounts for a while, I can average around 325 lph with 99+% QA consistently.
I've been there more than 3 years, I'm not a wolf, and I am not attacking anyone. Just saying not every company is a good fit for everyone, and I think the OP needs to hear others' experiences and opinions.
My experience with TTS - anon

I work with TTS and I like it well enough. Once you're off training you are pretty much left alone.
The VR is fairly good for my account and I do okay money wise. You are expected to keep to your schedule. We do have 9 hour schedules, but are required to have 7 of the 9 actively working on the accounts. So basically an hour for breaks and an hour for whatever else you need to do like research. It's not nearly as bad as it sounds.
My pay is also higher than I have seen quoted so maybe they pay differently on different accounts, I work during the day BTW so I don't get any shift differential. I have only been there 6 months so I haven't had any raises or anything.
The only benefits I carry are the disability insurance, which doesn't cost much at all and full time does earn PTO.
I'm not saying it's fantastic, but if you want to be left alone to work and not have to worry about overzealous QA it's a good place.
As stated before YMMV.

for validating my experience. I'm really not sure why when we post positives about TTS, we get such vicious responses and then also get criticized for defending ourselves. I have never resorted to calling any of the negative posters liars or any other name; just post my experience. Also, working for TTS is heaven compared to working for Nuance (but some like it there too, except for their new pay structure) or some of the other big MTSOs; and Escription is so well trained, we REALLY can rack up lines into the mid 2000s and beyond. Let's agree to disagree, okay?
Nobody called anyone a liar here. OP asked and another was fair. - anon

Nothing to do with agreeing or disagreeing. No vicious response either, just reality. Six months is still in the honeymoon phase of a job. Just glad you can keep up the pace and feel you are in heaven. We all have a different perspective of heaven also. Loved being one of the original in-house MTs, yet still would not associate it with Heaven.
? about 7 hour requirement. sm - Old Anon

Is this written in the employee handbook or did someone in management/orientation team tell you we only need 7 hours keyboard time? I have been with them for a while and never knew that and have always strived to get as close to 8 hours keyboard time as possible. I'm really interested to find out. Thanks.
Is Transcription, Technology and Support the same company as TTS that everyone says is awful to work for and management is bad?
I am afraid to apply at companies that have 2 names and keep advertising for help. That can't be a good sign.

Any former or present employees of TTS out there that can tell me what it's like working for TTS? I've been told that working on the eScription platform on a certain account, I could make up to over 400 LPH. I've never heard that & I've never done that at any of the companies I've worked for.

I wrote this essay about the negative impact VR and outsourcing has had on this field. I thought you guys might appreciate it.
HOW TECHNOLOGY KILLED THE MEDICAL TRANSCRIPTION FIELD
Long before I began working as a medical transcriptionist in 1993, others had been making a good living in the field for many years. For those unaware, medical transcriptionists (sometimes referred to as medical language specialists) are responsible for producing patients' medical records.

Not much in archives & I just started IC with them as a temp position until I find something better. The pay is not great but it is per 63 character line count and the acute account I'm on double spaces PE section so that helps. Platform is DocQscribe which has to be the easiest one I've ever used out of M*Modal/eScription..etc. The speech rec is not as precise as eScription but on the + positive side this IS the 1st company that doesn't QA NITPICK unnecessar ...

Thanks in advance.
