Driving me crazy!! Hundreds of nitpicky preferences that have NOTHING to do with patient care. Wait until the Obamacare database kicks in. They will be told what to put in and in what format, and I hope we're all grinning as Federal employees.

Not to mention the individual docs who want their own words typed in a special way, like with a hyphen or whatever when it's not necessary.

At that point, you won't be typing it. The specifications are built into EHR formats, which use selection templates (point and click) augmented by free-text with built-in VR. It goes straight from their mouth to the screen ... no MT or MTSO required.

We already have it. We still have a transcription contract, but it is so obvious that they use unedited VR that fewer and fewer doctors are willing to endure that, and the lost jobs and slow turnaround. More and more are doing it themselves.

She says she does not want to waste the time having it come back to her for corrections. It's all kind of insulting, but you're right, the future is already here. We're insulted everyday now.

But the malpractice suits start flowing in with subsequent escalation of malpractice insurance rates. They will end up losing a LOT more than they think they are saving now.

Hope your daughter understands that the errors in reports are 99.9% dictation errors by dictators who haven't the foggiest idea how to dictate, yet the MTs are always blamed.

The law firm I worked for did a lot of med-mal and there is something in the law called "The captain of the ship." It basically would say that the NP is the responsible one, the MT is not. So the NP, being the "captain," is going to take it in the proverbial shorts when the lawsuit hits.

At hub's scoping a few years ago, I had a report w/pics in my hand before he woke up! - Point n clik, no MT needed. :( nm

I do 20 scope reports a day some times and if they are normal, it's a 1.5 minute dictation that the doctor flies through, I have to make very few corrections (closed system VR on EScription)and I send it back. I love them because I get my line count up really fast (I'm paid hourly, but we still have to meet a certain number of lines per hour), but I can totally see where these could be done by point and click.

It sort of makes sense to me to save money and do those kinds of things point and click and save the MT dollars for the open heart surgeries and the other things that cannot be done point and click. Just my two cents.

Second large account I have been placed on and, again, account specs are not up to date. When they send them out, you study them, focus on them while you are working, only to be sent an updated edition 2 and 3 times. Before you ask someone to help on your account and send them specs, is it too much to ask that they are current? Isn't that your job? Hello I was emailed specs because I am buying a new computer. I am new to transcription and dint necessarily know what all of this means. In the specs it says platform 7 I am unaware of what that is. Also the specs don't list anything about windows 8 even in the not supported section didn't know if anyone knew if platform 7 is compatible with windows 8. ...

I'm sure a lot of you work on multiple accounts. I work on 3 different accounts. Right now I have my account specifics on my desktop, but this is aggravating to me. I think it would be easier to print them and put them in a binder to have easy access to them and put each hospital in its own tabbed section. Got laid off from company that supplied computers. Have to find another job but not sure if I should go buy a computer or what kind if I do. Apparently not a lot of companies supply a computer. If I have to buy one, I'd rather buy a laptop. Can you work from a laptop? I am not sure if this is going on with your accounts, but I have noticed on my primary that there are a lot of old reports in there, from days and days ago. A few weeks back my team leader said ignore those TAT times because they were pulling old stuff for "training." It started with DS, and now I notice that there are old H&Ps and Consults in there. Did anyone ever contact a hospital after your account was lost to find out where it went and you were still employed with the former MTSO that had the account. Concerned about doing this if the hospital were to contact the MTSO and still employed there but not overly happy anymore.
