Exactly - Hotspots are not meant for that

I remember one time about a year ago when our internet was down for over 24 hours due to an areawide outage and I tried to use my iPhone as a hotspot so I could still work and it was way too slow. I couldn't even download any job files because it would time out. My husband once had to have a hotspot for his work. They reimbursed him for it; however, it was VERY expensive. We immediately canceled it from our plan as soon as he no longer needed it.

Another thing to bear in mind is that even if you do have unlimited data, most carriers will start to throttle your speed once you've gone over a certain amount of data usage in a month, which will slow you down even more.
