OMG, she did this to me as well - Pearson Shmearson

Posted: Apr 9th, 2022 - 3:14 pm In Reply to: It's not just Skype messages - Ugh

I got hired by Pearson a couple of months ago. I had applied after I saw one of her many ads on MTU. She responded to my email literally within not even 5 minutes of me sending her my resume. She almost seemed desperate. Just like you, I told her what hours I would be available to work. I said that I could start around 10:30-11 a.m. She seemed fine with that. Well, the very next day when I was set to start, my phone starts ringing at 7:15 a.m. It was her wanting to know where I was. I wasn't even awake and I was pretty peeved that I had been woken up at that hour. I told her that I thought I had clarified that I would be starting between 10:30 and 11 and that it was only 7 a.m. She gave me the EXACT same spiel about needing to be an "early bird" because their clients expect their work to be completed in a timely manner. I once again reiterated to her that I could not start until later in the morning and if that was going to be a problem, then perhaps this wasn't going to work out.

I logged in at about 10:45 a.m. Not even 5 minutes after I had logged in, the Skype messages started. A couple of hours later, I had stepped away from my desk to use the bathroom, let my dogs out to go to the bathroom, and get myself a cup of coffee. I was away from my desk for maybe 10-12 minutes tops. When I got back, I had 2 missed Skype calls from her and a message saying "call me." I sent her a message saying, "I can't do this. I can't work in this suffocating environment. I'm sorry, but I'm done."

As I saw someone else mention, this woman is batsh*t crazy. I've never experienced anything like her in my entire career. She takes micromanagement to an entirely new extreme.
