It's not just Skype messages - Ugh

Posted: Apr 9th, 2022 - 10:42 am In Reply to: I'd love to hear as well - It would be interesting

I made it through training day and bounced.

Not only do they want you on call pretty much 24/7, but the Skype isn't just messages. They want you to have a headset with a microphone so they can *CALL* you on Skype relentlessly throughout the day. Nothing like trying to work and having Skype incoming calls.

I had the same experience as everyone else who has posted. I had told the owner my hours I wished to work, which she indicated was fine. The next morning, she started blowing up my cell phone and Skype (with both messages and calls) at about 7 a.m., when I wasn't even scheduled to be on and wasn't logged into work yet. She said her MTs like to be early birds and get started as early as possible to keep those clients happy. Okay, but then why did you let me choose my own hours the day before and make no mention of this "early bird" requirement?

I questioned the part of the contract that said if the IC returned a report late, said MT would not be paid for that report. I expressed my concern that many times it's through no fault of the MT that a report cannot meet TAT (the internet goes down, the power goes down, etc.). She told me not to worry about that, the odds of it happening were very slim, yet that clause was still in the contract.

I sat through the training, became more and more irritated about how she had misled me about the hours and was blowing up every electronic device I had hours before I was scheduled to start, and that no pay clause, and quickly decided this was not a good fit for me at all. Oh, and being on call via mobile Skype? Not in my world, lady. You get a window of hours, not my entire soul.

Again, agree with everyone else who has posted as my experience was pretty much identical to what they've described. This is the weirdest company I've ever encountered, and I've been doing this for nearly 30 years. Crazy doesn't begin to describe it.
