I interviewed with her last week - No way

So, I interviewed with Tracy Pearson just this past week. It was on Wednesday or Thursday. Yes, I had applied, but I had no idea what I was getting myself into. As soon as she started going into detail, I almost hung up the phone. In fact, I had her on speaker phone and my husband heard the things she was saying and started mouthing the words to me, "Hang up! Just hang up!"

Then, she asked me what hours I prefer to work. I told her afternoons and evenings/nights. She then, with a very concerned tone in her voice, said, "Well, you do work mornings, too, right? I mean, a lot of our clients expect their files back during normal business hours." No, lady. I do NOT work mornings. I have not worked mornings in 20 years. I told her the earliest I could start was around noon. She kind of hesitated, but went on with the interview. Then, she dropped the bomb about needing to purchase the Olympus software. She said, "I try to be sensitive about asking people to purchase anything, but Olympus is the best and it's about $350. It's what all of our people use. Is that going to be a problem?" She said that a lot of their audio files won't work with Express Scribe and that they would be willing to "convert the files" to work with my Express Scribe for a brief time, but would expect me to purchase the Olympus program within 2-3 weeks. Do I have stupid tattooed across my forehead? I don't care if you're paying 12 cpl. I am NOT spending a dime on software, especially when it's hundreds of dollars, and then I would be waiting for an entire month for my first paycheck from them. Yeah...NO. TOTALLY unacceptable for them to expect people to endure that cost, and with the line rate they're paying? I don't think so.

She emailed me the contract and wanted me to add her to Skype right away. When I didn't respond, didn't sign the contract, and didn't add her to Skype, she started blowing up my phone the very next day. I didn't take any of her calls. She must have called me 7 or 8 times throughout the course of the day. Lady, take a hint! I just want a job where I will be left alone to do my work, will be treated as a true IC and allowed to make my own hours, and not be bothered and interrupted a hundred times a day for totally asinine reasons. That is pure micromanagement.

I'm very glad to hear that I'm far from the only one who has had this experience. I will say that she did tell me she is having a very difficult time finding people. Gee, I wonder why that could be?!
