it would make a small difference: Report these companies to state labor boards, the Federal DOL and the IRS.
I see some states have labor/workplace committees. There are the House and Senate committees on Education and Labor; and Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions respectively.
Call me optimistic: If these entities got letters/calls from even 10 people reporting the same thing it might rouse their concern.
Disclaimer: I do not endorse confiscatory taxation. I think the income tax is evil. Since we're playing in that tax sandbox, though, let's play by the rules.
