Since I'm on Medicare and have an Advantage Plan that includes a gym membership (most do--either the Y or Silver Sneakers), I go to water aerobics 3-5 mornings a week. It's easy on the joints and you can go easy until you build your strength. I've been doing this for 5 or 6 years now. Now that I've got the McD job, I can still go 3 times a week because I'll be working those 2 other mornings (only 5 hours). Depending on how I feel, I can still drop in to the pool and do water walking on my own in the afternoons. You could try a modest walking program wearing good footwear starting at 10 minutes a day and working up to 30-45 minutes if you don't have a pool or gym nearby. You can get yourself back into fit shape. Good luck.
