from former MTs are those who were already working with a hospital or other facility when they were able to move into a coding position. Gone are the days of "coder development programs," and coder apprenticeship programs are few and far between. There is very stiff, real competition out here (including experienced coders who have been laid off, furloughed, or their company bought out) and I wouldn't start dropping money on schooling without an end-game in place.
