Raising kids - stubborn fan

You've just given the word "stubborn" a whole new meaning for me. I like the sound of it, "staying stubborn for just 5 seconds longer." It makes a whole lot of sense the way you describe it when raising your son to become a decent human being. God knows the schools can't do it or social media - God forbid! I am convinced that a lot of these troubled youngsters described by the original poster above in "drama queen entitled teens," didn't come from homes with consistent enough attention or where anyone cared enough to be "stubborn for just 5 seconds longer." You probably also saw lots of them when you worked with the psychologist, and I remember as well (10 years ago) when transcribing reports for a child psychologist, many, many young patients admitted into behavioral health because of harming themselves and/or others. Back then, the youngest patient I remember was about 9 years old. I've just recently learned that children as young as 3 years are being diagnosed with depression! I'm not even sure if our mental health system can successfully help all of these kids because I understand it can take years of therapy to turn some of them around. It's a serious problem... I wish there were more stubborn people like you willing to stand their ground when raising their kids!!! Thank you for that :)
