I was thinking about the possibility of quitting, so asked HR about this within the past year or so, to avoid any nasty surprises, and they said you lose insurance the day you quit. I didn't ask them about COBRA; our family needed it years ago and it just about broke the bank, horrifically expensive and would rather take my chances than pay for that.
