I've seen ads lately by M*Modal looking for ICs. Be careful, people, I have a feeling they're testing the waters and they'll be switching everybody over to IC status eventually. If you're like most MTs, working as an IC isn't worth it after up to 40% of your paycheck goes to federal/state taxes, especially when you're working for 0.03 cpl editing/0.05 cpl typing. I saw this in an ad for a transcription company looking for ICs and frankly I'd rather sling hamburgers at McDonald's for $8/hour than work for these slave wages after 20 years of MT work.
