The software is usually based on some version of the previous one.
Despite what we use, the front-end speech recognition is pretty much the same within the same software company, despite the various programs offered. In other words, dragon is dragon is dragon. That is the speech recognition software in all the Nuance speech recognition programs, some higher end, better functioning, and of course more costly.
Companies do not develop multiple stand-alone software programs. The programs they offer are generally "tweaked" versions of their basic software. This is true of all software, regardless of its use.
Although we use various platforms, the reason why is because Nuance bought companies and brought on their platform. Nuance is slowly switching accounts from the previous platform to the Nuance platforms.
