because the minimum wage in MA is now $10 and is steadily going up in increments over time. I worked for them last year at 0.0326/line editing. My state's minimum wage was $9.00 per hour so had to average 270 lph just to make minimum wage. At 0.0326/line, someone in MA would have to average 307 lines per hour to make minimum wage. I did notice in their job ads that they do seem to be offering a higher line rate of late, and that's probably because a lot of states' minimum wages are going up. They are going to need to lower their lph expectations AND increase their line rates to keep up with the times. Unfortunately, the clients are not going to like that the services will have to charge them more in order to be able to pay their MTs at least minimum wage. What a sad state of affairs this industry is in!
