If the company's compensation was cut, then they had to cut their costs somehow, and the obvious place to start was to at least keep the percentage of their gross charges that was going to their employees for lines the same as before, so everyone, including themselves, suffered equally.

About all you can do in that situation it set up some shorts to drop the number of spaces for an indent, tab, etc. into the report with 1 or 2 keystrokes. You're still getting shafted, but then so is your employer. I don't have any answer to that, Neither, apparently, does anyone else in the industry.
