I don't know when or if VR will be used for pathology - sm

Note: I just finished transcribing a pathology report in which the dictator (who has a heavy accent) was on speaker phone with machines running in the background, and he was speaking at a very low volume.

I think using VR for medical dictation is asinine anyway, but especially for pathology because there is so little context in the report.

I firmly believe each and every patient should obtain copies of each and every report that is entered into their medical record and verify the accuracy with their medical provider. I have done this with my own records, and there is almost ALWAYS an error. Two examples: I was admitted to the hospital from the ER with a severe ischemic colitis. The first day, the attending asked me, "You dislocated your knee?"

A couple of years later, I presented to an ortho's office because at that time I actually did injure my knee (torn meniscus). I had been using crutches since the incident because I could not bear any weight on the knee. In the office notes, the doctor put that I came into the office using a cane.

I know all of us human beings make mistakes, too, but VR has no place in transcribing medical dictation.
