doctor says effusion, but doesn't he mean fusion? - mt

Posted: Nov 06, 2009

or am I just brain dead about now..tia.

She was therefore fixed with an external fixator rather than internal fixation for the *fusion.  The *fusion went on to heal and she has done reasonably well.

Yes, fusion...sm - babs

Effusion is a buildup of joint fluid. Fusion "fuses" something together.

Thank you. - mt

I would be very careful about changing ANYTHING the dictator says. If in doubt, flag and send for review by whatever means your company uses. I don't think "effusion" would fit at all but still I wouldn't feel comfortable changing the "effusion" that you say he says twice back-to-back. Yep, I would definitely flag it. Only the dictator knows what he/she meant.

What If Doctor Doesn't Speak English??
Mar 09, 2010

I'm trying to get an answer from my CCM regarding foreign doctor's dictation and this 5% QA submission. I type for two separate teaching hospitals and are constantly getting new foreign doctors, 3/4s of which cannot even speak English. I won't matter if I got copies of every single report they dictate, there would be no way not to send these reports to QA....are we getting any kind of special consideration towards our QA submissions for these doctors? My CCM I don't think has ...

Overheard A Doctor Telling Another Doctor...
Oct 15, 2010

20 years ago when the DRG's hit the hospitals, one  was complaing to the other... "they treat doctors like a bunch of old dogs now".  Well, that's how  MTs are being treated now.  Why on God's green earth do the MT services require all MT's to work at least one weekend day every week (Friday's and Monday's  don't count). Every ad I see on the Job Seeker board requires weekends.  Are they sadistic or something.  Why do we put u ...
