Typing Expanders - dizzy

Shorthand or SwiftText? (Or maybe something else affordable.) I need something that I can obtain a disc in case of reinstalling. I just had to do a system restore and was using Instant Text Pro V 7. Of course, there is no disc for this program. As they described it, I was "renting" the program and would need to pay the full price again to reinstall on the same computer. (A bunch of crap in my opinion, but what does my opinion matter to them?) My Word AutoCorrect is full and started giving me problems, which is why I went to an expander.

That's just crazy but I know someone who went through an almost identical situation with IT a few months ago. IT has always been a bit too advanced for my needs but I'd be one pretty unhappy camper being ripped off like that. Yikes.

I use SH and love it. Easy to use, not too intrusive on the screen, holds lots of information and just really works great for my personal needs. It can be purchased on a month-to-month basis, a 3-month package, a 6-month package, or the entire year, I believe. I'm not sure if it comes in disc form or not, but I think it might.

Good luck on your search and sorry about the IT fiasco. Now that I've heard of 2 of you have gone through this with them, I'm glad I never purchased the program. Or "rented" it, as they now claim with you.

I understand it is the same exact product as SpeedType - but for a significantly less cost

I have never tried SpeedType since I've read everywhere it's identical to SH but with a heftier price tag.

Noboday had ever to pay for reinstalling the software on the same computer.

As long as you are the user of your Instant Text license you can have it on two computers at the same time without having to pay. Textware Solutions does not have you pay for a second-machine license as Speedtype does. I am not sure about the SH policy.

I have tried several times to reinstall IT and get a box that says my information is incorrect. IT customer service told me that I will have to purchase a new license.

I submitted the request as soon as I was unable to use IT. It was a 12-month license and I should still have 7 months left. I have gotten no help from IT whatsoever. The only thing I got back from them is that I would need to purchase a new license.

You may have omitted to put in your - serial number

when you submitted your activation code request. Without the serial number you received upon purchase your request comes through as a new trial code request and may have been rejected.

IT should have given me help while I was still a customer. I could have lost my job over being put behind on reports I was filling in for on a backlogged account.

She had a similar issue a few months back and was trying to persuade IT to get at least a discount on the re-install. Too much hassle for me, especially for the price.

I installed IT on my work computer and my laptop. When I needed to upgrade my work computer to a faster one, I was able to install IT again at no additional cost.

Each time, all I had to do was request an activation code. I should add that I'm a big fan of IT. Just wish I had purchased it sooner.

Had no problems with IT until the hospital did an update on their VPN and I had to do a system restore after the first update completely froze my computer when I was installing it. I've already decided that I am going with a program that I can get a disc for.

Are there any expander programs that work within MediSoft? One of my doctors is switching to this software, and while I'm happy to be included in the transition rather than kicked to the curb, I will miss the heavy assist I get from Word AutoText and AutoCorrect. The guy who gave me the 15-minute mini-training said no expanders would work with MediSoft, but that was after finally getting him to understand I was not asking about spell-check... so I'm not sure he even knew what ...

So clearly..this is now part of ADT info and we are no longer paid for those keystrokes. plus..I guess I will throw in my 2 cents re: physician look-up. I cannot believe they did this. And who ever does not notice the change or recognize the detriment in providing good info in the report, clearly did not use the previous physician look-up to its advantage. You know, I think I am typing better and faster without the fear of QA hanging over me. I never thought they were extremely helpful anyways. Usually they couldn't fill in the blanks and just nit-picked the report like a pecking bird. I have never had a report sent back from a client (knock on wood) because they were unhappy with anything. I spent far more time trying to please QA than the hospitals and doctors (and have told my supervisor that more than once). ...
