Does anyone have any ideas on whether Instant Text, or ShorCut by Sylvan is the best?

I have had ShortCut for YEARS and absolutely love it -- very user friendly and none of this built in Microsoft macro stuff that the rest of the expanders have seemed to have built in. I have used this from the old PRD days, tried others and to me, I don't want to give up my ShortCut if I don't have to -- just as an aside, the program was originally developed by Superior Global, so if I have had problems, have to call SG rather than Sylvan.

I used Instant Text for 4 years, then was in a situation where I had to use Short Cut.
IT is much easier. You don't have to use space bar to expand, so you can still type SVC and not have it expand. It has continuations, which means if you start typing a phrase it pops up on the list and you can enter the rest of it Also the list always pops up so you don't have to remember all your abbreviations. It is separated into phrases and words. I use words for long words not frequently used.
I figured out how to get back to IT and am very glad I did. Short Cut is like Word auto correct. More options with IT.

I came to MTing in the typewriter area, pre-correcting Selectric, and came through WordPerfect for DOS with PRD for DOS. I was actually able to import my PRD glossary into Shorthand, as well as my Word autocorrect file.

Shorthand works a lot like PRD and/or Autocorrect, so if you're used to one of those, Shorthand's learning curve is much easier.

Shorthand also has the advantage of a 30-day free trial, which (at least the last time I checked) Instant Text did not have.

You are mistaken, Instant Text does offer - a 30-day trial.

They didn't used to offer the 30-day trial. I am glad to see they are keeping up with the competition, as it can only benefit the consumer. :)

Between ShortCut and Instant Text there is a - huge difference

Instant Text can do everything a traditional expander does whereas the traditional expanders such as ShortCut, Shorthand, Smartype, Bytescribe, and any of the embedded expander programs cannot do what Instant Text does:
create a list within a few seconds, provide expansions without you having to make up each and every short form and without having to memorize it, expand continuations without you having to type anything.

I was just offered a job and the company uses Instant Text as their expander. I have over 1900 entries in Word's autocorrect in the MSO1033.acl file. This has probably been asked and answered a thousand times over, but can't seem to locate the results: Can I take my Word autocorrect and import the entries into Instant Text without have to copy and paste them in individually? I followed the instructions of a poster below for importing my .acl autocorrect to Instant Text V via the importer. It seemed to go. The question I have now is when I open Instant Text on the bottom right I see glossaries, the first glossary is for the transcription department of the company I will be working for. I am having problems with Instant Text linking to my word program. I just started w Transcend and they use Beyond Text as their wp. I am using the trial version of IT Pro V and cannot get it to link. The red light will not go off and when i press on the up arrow to link the program nothing happens. Anyone have any good websites for Instant text tutorial or questions? I did read through productivity talk and did find what I needed. I have not used this software in years. I use autotext, but I would like to use the line counting software that comes wtih IT. Just wondered about what you all think is the best expander to use with VR. I used to use Shorthand up to a couple of years ago and now work with Instant Text.
