I'm surprised I haven't received performance management yet. I just cannot keep my line count up high enough since going to Fluency 7.6. This is too frustrating. Maybe I should copy a job into Word and see if the line count matches. Although, it could be because the ASR output has been so horrible and I am stopping 3x more to make corrections. I don't get why ASR outputs synonyms of what was said and alternative ways to phrase what was said, not to mention the downright wrong output.

I work for Nuance, but here's something that always makes my rate faster. I read ahead. That is, there will be times when the speaker will pause and I read the next sentence ahead. Even when there is no pause, one can ususally still read ahead of the speaker. I konw this works for me in increasing the speed; however, I don't always follow it. But if I do, my speed always goes up.

There are too many errors to read ahead in the MM output. - treading in mud.

I can read ahead if the output is good, but I very very rarely get good enough output.

I am glad to hear it is not just me. I wasn't sure if it was the mandatory schedule change or the upgrade. Perhaps it is a little of both.

with line count, do you mean you drop below 150?

Also, what hours to they want? Mandatory change to what?

They told me I had to change my hours from 12:00-5:00 p.m. EST to 4:00-9:00 p.m. EST. After all these changes, an email was sent out today saying not enough changes and more have to be done. They gave two week notice before the mandatory changes will take place, so haven't even given the new changes a chance to see if it makes a difference, just because reports are still going late this weekend. Doesn't matter to me as 5 more work days and I'm out of here.

I was hired full-time by a small company 3 months ago, offered 15.00 hr, just recently demoted because of a complaint of quality (which was very questionable), told they would pay me 5 cpl (woohoo) for production. Now they are not supplying me with any work, let alone full-time work! Dont they have an obligation to fire me, lay me off or supply me with work? How can they do this? What's your favorite keyboard to use to transcribe? My recent experiment, a multimedia Apevia, which by the way is a piece of junk! But it was blue and pretty, so I bought it. I have been looking around the boards for a bit and I see everyone complaining about working for peanuts (or less) for their MTSO. I currently work at home for a somewhat local hospital in my area. They sent all of their transcriptionists home about 6 years ago and their coders are home now too. I know that the other big hospital system in my area has all of their transcriptionsts at home too. Is it really that hard to find a job like mine or did I just get lucky? ...
