M-Modal Disclosure Statement of ANY AND ALL INFORMATION ?? - TJ

Posted: Mar 24, 2012

Was I the only person who had a problem with signing M-Modal's FULL DISCLOSURE agreement that they want you to sign when you start?  Giving them "carte blanche" to any and all information into your life??, which I obviously did not sign???

what do they want to know? - curious

I'm totally with you. We just got outsourced and I've been looking over my packet. That was one of the many things I'm not happy about. Why do they need to check my credit? They definitely aren't going to be jumping for joy if they do.

No clue why they need to check your credit...LOL, but - I dont remember that paperwork..sm

[ In Reply To ..]
I doubt they will do all that anyway, they have got way too many people to keep track off, they dont have time to be checking credit or digging into anyone's personal life.

You work at home for pete sake, who cares what your credit is like or your past. I wouldn't worry about it.

I was outsourced to them myself and I gotta say even with all the stuff you read here on the boards when I take a look at this whole company industry business, I think I am grateful to have landed here versus some of the other places out there.

Yes, nobody likes VR but believe it or not, I was fortunate to get increases in a very short period of time after the outsource, the work in my experience has been plentiful so much so we are plagued with OT on a constant basis.

I just thank God I have a job and Im not sitting at my computer waiting for work like some of these poor women out there. I was floored when I saw my contract and it said 0.04cpl, but shortly after I started I called the people in HR and told her, I could not live with that and she raised it.

Good luck!! Learn from you own experience with MModal, dont be swayed by everything you hear. See how it works for you before you make any rash decisions, as everyone's experience is different.
SM- I REALLY needed to hear that - Girl4givn

I really appreciate those words, more than you know. I have been leaning towards going with them, just for ease of transition, but unfortunately, most of what you hear is bad. I guess really it's no different than people complaining at a retail store. Not often do customers go to the manager and say "So in so is doing a great job!" I'm fairly easy to work with anyway, and do what I'm told and don't make too many waves. It may be a good fit for me. Thanks again!
Please check back in a year from now and tell - us your experience. it

They have a company called TriClor do all of this for them. I went to their website and they have thousands of people whose only job is to pry into employees lives. But I am GLAD that you are having a good experience.
Where did you find TriClor? - MT
[ In Reply To ..]
I couldn't find anything like that under TriClor. Are you sure you spelled it right? Is this information somewhere in the MModal website?
Probably she meant TriCor - they do employment screening
[ In Reply To ..]
just found them on google search

checking for credit - cr

[ In Reply To ..]
Unfortunately, I think that's standard procedure nowadays for many companies. I assume it's to verify one's overall stability and reliability.
Credit checks - NewHire
[ In Reply To ..]
I asked because I just went through a bankruptcy 2 years ago and I was told it doesn't affect your ability to be hired (obviously it didn't because I've been here awhile now). I do know my girlfriend who was laid off in 2009 has had EVERY place check her credit and it's terrible. Her now exhusband has the same credit issues and was NOT hired at 2 places he went through rounds of interviews for because of his credit. These were not money handling positions, but that was the reason they gave him.

Credit is tied to SO many things now insurance, jobs, etc., that educating yourself about credit IMO and using it smartly (yeah I know I had a bankruptcy so maybe you think I'm a hypocrit) is the way of the future.
I guess I should consider myself fortunate then - because my credit is not up to
[ In Reply To ..]
par, not to mentioned back when I was a young buck I had couple run-ins with the law.

But they say they are an "equal opportunity employer" so maybe thats why I'm still here.
Disclosure Statement/Credit Check - TJ
[ In Reply To ..]
I too had a bankruptcy and lost my home because my husband and I both lost our account last year. I would gladly tell them what they want to know. I just have a problem with a "third party" handling my entire life in a file that can be looked at by who knows who...
not sure what you mean - Curious
[ In Reply To ..]
What third party do you mean? Would MModal collect personal information on us and then let it be available to someone else?
Third party - AnonToo
[ In Reply To ..]
I assume because it's a third party that runs the background check, not MModal. Most of the time companies just send your information off to a background place that runs it and sends them the report. The third party doesn't DECIDE if you qualify for a position, they just report back on what they are asked on.

I also agree, if you have a credit issue just be up front. Now having a felony background, I know that's a no hire most places.
third party sells info - curious
[ In Reply To ..]
It seems to me that if you sign a form to allow M*Modal to request personal information, that should not give the third-party company the right to sell or distribute this information since the permission was only given to M*Modal.

Also, with a credit company, we are allowed to see what is in our file and to appeal it if we don't agree. Seems like this info that can be gotten on us from a company like Tricor should be made available to the employee, who has a right to know what it contains.

"Carte Blanche" Disclosure Statement - TJ

[ In Reply To ..]
They want you to sign a piece of paper giving them "carte blanche" ability (for lack of a better word) to go into your credit, your education, your employment, your medical history, plus a character search of all past employers and friends, plus your driving history, oh boy I know I am leaving something out.... But you give them the okay to open up your ENTIRE LIFE HISTORY. I did not sign the form. I did not want my entire life available to anyone on the internet.

Disclosure - Cheryl

[ In Reply To ..]
This all sounds like bullying to me! Invasion of privacy, digging up negative information and making it available to "third parties," and I wonder why it would then be put on the Internet? I sure hope M*Modal is not this type of company!

I am "TJ"'s husband who initiated this thread. I am retired from the Air Force after 22 years and worked in the "intelligence gathering" arena, primarily under the control of the infamous National Security Agency (NSA). To say that information is gathered, compiled AND kept on file on MANY American citizens (besides the official charter of listening in on other countries) is an UNDER STATEMENT. After reading the consent my wife was asked to sign, the RED FLAGS went up all over the place. Keep in mind, many companies out there (I am sure TriCor is no different) not only compile information on individuals, but they also SELL this information to other agencies, companies, or whoever has the cash in hand. Do NOT ever believe that when a statement is made "your information is protected under the Privacy Act of 1974" (which it is by law), it will be. Besides monitoring foreign communications, I also PERSONALLY listened in on thousands of conversations initiated by American citizens IN THIS COUNTRY. In this day and age of electronic wizardry, I am sure that collection of very sensitive private information on Americans is pretty routine. With the uproar of people screaming to protect their privacy, it seems we will sign just about anything giving permission to gather information about our lives. EVERYONE has a skeleton or two they don't want disclosed, some more than others. I would encourage you to READ thoroughly ANY document that asks YOUR permission to collect information about YOUR life and question its intent. It's not always as innocent or innocuous as these collection agencies would have you believe.....

LOL well...even Dollar General is wanting background - AnonToo

[ In Reply To ..]
checks, they do check credit and the felonies. Unfortunately, for some people I'm related to they can't get hired on there because of both.

background - curious

[ In Reply To ..]
It's understandable that a company would want a criminal check, maybe a credit check, but a carte blanche check is too much, and it should be made available to the person who is being investigated, but I don't know what the law is. Just my opinion.

I dont know what you mean by "carte blanche" - but at any rate...

[ In Reply To ..]
I am just your average everyday working class citizen without much to hide. As previously stated by others, every place does criminal background checks and credit checks these days, landlords etc.

I dont remember reading anything in my paper work with the phase "carte blanche" (not saying yours didn't say that).

But if your uncomfortable, then do as you said and dont sign. With all due respect to your husband, he makes it sound like some sort of conspiracy theory. I guess I am not sure what you are trying to imply here?
carte blanche - curious
[ In Reply To ..]
Look just above these posts where TJ posted about the meaning of a carte blanche background check.
Mine SPECIFICALLY said - AnonToo
[ In Reply To ..]
that information would NOT be sold by MModal or the third party.

My inlaws are very paranoid about this stuff too, but it is what it is. I *am* sort of wondering, as someone from a military family spanning several generations, would go online talking or even insinuating about things like this too..but there is paranoia everywhere.

Carte blanche - TJ

[ In Reply To ..]
I have spoken with someone in charge and was assured that they only want the "credit check" and I believe them.... so all is well... I think I may have spoken too soon, so forgive the post.. Its just that in this day and age of "identify theft and such" I do not even like giving out my social security number. But if anything bad ever happens, I will surely post it here. I am surprised at all the replies I got.

Global Info Systems Deceiving On DoD Contract Statement And Others

The statement they posted earlier in MTStars about the Dept of Defense is incorrect.  DPTS won the contract.  Global is a "subcontractor" of DPTS.  Therefore, DPTS is 1 of 4 companies proven, not GIS.  Also, it shows on the website that the CEO is Indian and their other office is in India, so yes, it is OWNED by an Indian.  Also, they started out in the post stating "THEY" and "anonymous" then put "See you at the conference", etc.  Shows that you are the m ...

It's Disgraceful That MModal Hasn't Made A Public Statement

This is an absolute disgrace.  Not just out of courtesy to the employees that break their back to earn the money they've mismanaged, but also as a courtesy to their clients who pump money into their overly fattened wallets.  What kind of a company allows an entire day to fly by on the heels of a bankruptcy announcement in the press and doesn't make a statement?  Do they honestly believe we don't know this is happening?  Surely they must know their employees a ...
