Any transcription position - carrie

Posted: Dec 03, 2014

Hello

Im new. I live in SD. Seventeen years ago I was an at home medical transcriptionist for five years, therefore, I don't have a resume since the company I worked for no longer exists.

I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of transcribing doctors with accents and diverse specialties.  I am interested in non-medical transcribing as well.

If you are unable to assist me, would you be so kind as to send me other companies or individuals that may be able to help me? I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

carrie

Have you brushed up your skills and taken tests? Just start applying, thats what all of us do. No one can hand you a golden ticket to a job. You have to apply and pass the tests.

After 12 years out of the biz - She needs more than brush up

A "brush up" is a review of what you learned. She needs to learn new things, so this isn't a brush-up, it's a redo, with the exception that once she's in the saddle again, her foot/ear coordination should come back pretty quickly.

I don't think any company would test her after 12 yrs out of the biz, unless they were assured she's taken a good course.

Have you researched this field lately? It's in a bad place.

That being said, yes, you do have a resume. Just because your company went out of business, doesn't mean you didn't work for them.

Your biggest issue (if you really want to do MT) is the 12 years you've been out. You would seriously need to take a really good course. There are more horrible dictators, definitely more procedures, meds, labs, etc.

My first line of action wouldn't be to take the good course, it would be to explore this field to see if you want to do it at this point. It is NOT what it was when you left all those years ago. There is nothing good about it.

Medical transcription isn't a career anymore. - It"s a ball and chain.

I Was Offered A Legal Transcription Position...sm

full-time and in-house.  She is offering 5 cpl gross so even if someone says "um", I get paid 5 cpl for the whole line.  Is this a good line rate.  I have not done legal transcription before so I have no idea if this is a decent rate.  I feel that is kind of low and would like to ask if she would be willing to raise it.     What do you think? ...

Does This Put Me In A Bad Position?
Jan 06, 2011

I just wrote a very long post, but decided to minimalize it because I feel very on edge with my company and I'm doing the absolute best I can. If you know the hospital that hired your company is not happy with the work that is being produced, and you are able to see glaring errors in other people's work, would you say something to management or keep it to yourself? This is MY job too, and if the errors continue I am afraid the hospital will go elsewhere, meaning my job is gone as wel ...

Need Some Advice About A Position
Jun 08, 2010

I need some advice about a position that I am being offered.  It is an IC position.  They want Tu-Sat or Sun-Thurs and 1500 lines per day.  This is supposedly 70% VR and the rest is straight typing.  I know that techniqually they aren't supposed to require weekend work and line requirements for IC, but how is the best way to negotiate this and still get the job?  I hate the job that I am currently doing and don't make enough money at it.  I usually do work ...
