How can I be sure my money is safe with Andrews. see message - WONDERING

Posted: May 11, 2010

I cannot find them at the BBB site.  Though I can find Career Step with an A+ rating.

WIth internet scams these days taking peoples money, how can I be sure that my money is safe with this program?

How can I obtain more information?

Try calling Linda Andrews herself and see what kind of impression you get from her. Then try the same thing with any other school you are considering. But remember in general you get what you pay for.

Thanks.........and - well

im not an MT, but I want to learn coding.

If you are enrolled, how do you feel the learning process is doing for you at Andrews? Are you learning alot and are the instructors very helpful to you?
Thanks

I think Andrews is great. I'm learning a lot and the instructors really know their stuff. It's challenging but not unmanageable and I feel confident I am getting the best education available. But of course every program is different so check them all out and find the one that's right for you.
what books are included with the andrews program? - still interested

do you get an 2010 CPT coding books with the program? or are books purchased separately?

Yes, you get the 2010 CPT and ICD-9 code book and a whole lot of others. Books are included. I asked them to send me a list of books before I signed up and they did.

Getting what you pay for - Anonymous

Have you considered that other schools are able to keep their costs down by offering the same course content but making more of their material available in electronic form?

I took coding in electronic form and it didn't work for me - My experience

[ In Reply To ..]
I went through the course but didn't get answers to my questions. The electronic version answered questions, but just not the questions that I had, and there was no instructor to help with my specific questions. I wouldn't do it that way again. Just my opinion from my own experience.

Interesting choice of titles for your post - sm

Getting what you pay for is right. Like buying a cheap mattress and discovering that you have to buy a bed board and hundreds of dollars worth of memory foam toppers before you can sleep on it.

What is the benefit to having THEM save money with an electronic form if YOU have to print it out to get a copy?

You do know that's what most online students have to do, don't you? They have to print it out screen by screen. Just think of the cost in paper and printer supplies. Or maybe the school sells the book extra. The school saves money, but you end up spending it.

It always sounds ok, though, because all the students stuck with it deal with their denial by telling others what a good deal it really is.

What they don't know is that what the school avoided and what they were denied is a collection of standard references that they could use on the job later. They remain unaware that there ARE references like that and don't know how to use them. They have no clue if the electronic stuff is ever updated or how many errors are contained in it, because there isn't anybody checking like there is with hard-copy references from reputable publishers.

They save the big money, though, on instructors. Of course, some students feel they don't need that.

Penny-wise and pound-foolish.

Licensure by Okla Board of Priv Voc Schools - sm

[ In Reply To ..]

Their website says they are licensed by the State of Oklahoma Board of Private Vocational Schools.  Why not ask them?

I hope it's ok to post a website of a government agency.  Their website is http://www.ok.gov/agency.php?agency_id=130

Here what it says:

Established by the Oklahoma Legislature in 1970, the board was authorized to set minimum standards for private vocational schools which include standards for courses of instruction and training qualifications of instructors, financial stability, advertising practices, and reasonable rules and regulations for operation of private vocational schools.

I had trouble finding it at first, but I searched under the business name and it said they are an accredited business since 1997 with an A+ rating. I don't know if the link will work or not.

Is ADP A Safe Sife? LifeLock Is
Dec 18, 2009

Just trying to sift out any type of identity theft, whether it be an MTSO, the bank, sham, or a slip & fall lawyer.  Yesterday my personal Windows-based PC totally blocked me out, insisting I install "Security Tool," which also showed up along the way as SecTool.  I called LifeLock and asked them about it.  Per this icon which landed on my toolbar, it wanted a couple different things.  The very LEAST was a "one-time fee" of $19.95.  This is a reminder to everyo ...

BIG MONEY
Jul 28, 2010

Okay, so I signed on with Transcend because they said, "Do you want to be guaranteed $900 per pay period as full time?" Well, sure. That sure reeled me in. I had always been afraid they ran out of work. Now it turns out that you HAVE to earn $900 IN ORDER TO BE full time. Big difference! It's like saying, "If you win the Olympic gold medal, you'll be guaranteed a first-place finish!" Or, "If you win the election, you'll be guaranteed more votes than your opponent!" It's so ba ...

How Do I Get My Money?!
Nov 21, 2011

Ok, finally, the horrors have happened to me. All was well, but now I'm getting seriously pissed. I work 8 hour shifts 5 days a week. Those hours are mandatory. My pay is equalling less than minimum wage. I e-mailed the company asking them about having to pay me minimum wage given the mandatory hours. The only response I got was "I'll look into it." That was over a week ago. In addition, the platform we use that records our lines is not recording all my jobs! I write down all the job ...

If You're In It Just For The Money, Don't Become An MT
Sep 03, 2012

I've had the same line rate (9 cpl) for 5 years, and I notice the new accounts they offer MTs pay 7.5 or 8 cpl at most. I must admit, though that I do work for a great company (I've been with them 12 years); they offer lots of flexibility (no required shifts or hours, just a reasonable line quota), payment promptly by direct deposit twice a month like clockwork, an easy to use transcription platform and wonderful QA and support staff. I have a lot of job satisfaction, though for my yea ...

Where Does The Extra Money Go?
Sep 27, 2010

I assume that the MT companies set up a contract with the client for them to pay on a per-line basis.  Of course, they charge more than they pay us; that's how they make their money & that's fine.  But what I'm wondering is... when we get a report that comes in as VR instead of straight typing, where does the extra money go, since we get paid less for VR.  I feel like I work just as hard, if not harder on VR than typing a report.  So why don't we make ...

Does Anybody Make Any Money At This? Sm
Jan 18, 2011

I've heard of more MTs NOT making any money than making money.  I've worked from home before but had to work full-time from home and part time at the hospital just to pay the bills then ended up quitting at home and went back to the hospital full time because I could make more money working from the hospital 40 hours than working 60 hours between the two.  I loved working from home but I couldn't make any money at it.  But at the time I only had 2 years' ...

Day after day, I read comments here about people making less than minimum wage... or women who used to make a solid middle class living at this who now cry when they look at their W2... or who made in 2011 what they made in 1993. MTs Making Big Money

Making No Money

I work for a company that I make NO money.  YES, I am seeking other employment, I'm not just sitting there whining about it, but rather just keeping some income while I look for more income.  I have barely had work this week and even when I do have work, the VR system is so bad that I really don't clear minimum wage.  So, today, apparently they are behind and I'm getting emails every hour or so that say "You ladies need to jump in and help, make this money while you can"  I me ...

Andrews Or CCO??
Feb 05, 2015

I'm trying to do as much research as possible into changing careers from MT to coding, and I've narrowed down my two choices of schools to Andrews and CCO (CodingCertificate.Org).  According to CCO's website, they now offer courses that will prepare you to take the CCS exam.  I've heard positive things about CCO, but I've also heard positive things about Andrews, and how thorough it is, but also that it's very difficult.  I would love to hear either f ...
