I was under the impression, silly me, that medical coding would be safe from outsourcing to India, with further research I am sorry to say I was wrong, so very sad : (

Don't think you are going to upset us with your revelation .. . we have known about them for ages. For a number of perfectly valid reasons, we aren't concerned. I'm not going to bother explaining.

I honestly was not trying to "upset" anyone or create a "drama." I admit, I am naive when it comes to the coding world.

I have done further research, have asked more questions, and have learned more about the whole offshoring situation in regards to coding, compliance and such, at least enough to bring up my comfort level in my decision making process.

I feel like coding would be a good fit for me right now and plan to enroll with Andrews in the fall. I'm putting Health Informatics on the back burner at least for now, I still have a lot to learn.

Technically, very few industries are safe--from any type of factor, be it outsourcing, offshoring, technology advancement, economy, weather, the list goes on.. While international outsourcing for coding does exist, it is not the norm or end-all-be-all in the coding world. There are many parts of coding that cannot be offshored or outsourced. I think you should perhaps do more research before making a hasty decision. Also remember that the medical systems in other countries also need coders. The US is not unique in that process.
