Think I'm going to apply at Synernet - are they still hiring

Can't be all that bad. Where I work the pay is above 8 cpl but pay no spaces and I can't get above 1000 lines no matter how I bust my butt and I was a high producer.

The 65 visual black character pay really makes a huge difference in pay. I have learned the hard way. I was averaging 1500 to 1800 lines with spaces making 7 cpl which is more than I'm making now at .085 cpl and 900 to 1000 lines no spaces in 8-hour shift.

Until you go to VR at 4 cpl, which they plan to have totally nm - implemented by end of 2014

even though I am paid for spaces. I checked it with Word, so I am a bit confused as to why I cannot produce lines at a higher rate. I'm not ready to give up on the company, but I am a bit stymied as to the cause of my low production. :(

As for Synernet, they always seem to have ads for 2nd and 3rd shift. Lots of changes and some unhappy people, but others seem to think it is just ducky, so who knows. Out of the pan into the fire, maybe or maybe not.

and some not unless this was implemented when I started over month ago. Do you work on the Fusion software? Maybe it depends on the accounts. I have checked my lines by Word also with and without spaces and it is correct without spaces. Then it may be the Tier as I am Tier 3

I do not know what tier I am on -- I looked at my welcome letter, and it does not say anything about it. I type in Word, not sure what the overlay is, where the demos come from. I feel kind of foolish because I know very little about anything there. The people seem very nice, but there is not much communication about anything. Training was just a couple of hours and then nothing from anyone. I just kind of operate on the "no news is good news" theory.

I would not like not being paid for spaces. I never have understood the reasoning behind it. My only thought is that if you are happy with everything else, to maybe talk to J and see if they could switch you to something else.

I believe you usually get paid for spaces because even though you don't type a letter a space still takes a keystroke. Look at it like you are getting paid for keystrokes. :)

Don't know what this 2008 thing is, b/c they do pay for spaces, 65 characters per line. And they are not going to 100% VR. That is false. They have a very small percentage of doctors they put on VR out of the thousands that are not VR. They may get new accounts with VR, but right now it is not going to all VR that is false.

I know what they say, but then again when I hired on I was told VR was not likely, and now here we are. I do not trust the way things are handled at the company. Big announcements are handed out in the phone calls that only 25 people can attend, and then when they DO tell you something, you wonder how much else they are not telling you. I have watched things go downhill, and I am not saying they are any worse than any other company. I am just saying I am not counting on anything. If it goes to VR, so be it. I cannot do anything about it. The old days of being treated with courtesy and respect by my employers seem long gone, and forget being paid what I am worth.

I'm not "defaming" the company or anyone else by pointing out things that are wrong. I have also cited the good things, such as the earned time off benefits and decent insurance. Because a person doesn't put on a cheerleading outfit and wear rose-colored glasses does not mean that he/she does not see the good. I admit that one of my pet peeves is the overuse of the word awesome nowadays. If I do a favor for someone, I'm "awesome." Really? Because someone does something nice, it puts you in awe? Doubtful. Mountains are awesome. The ocean and the Grand Canyon are awesome. An MTSO and/or most people are NOT awesome.

I have no desire to continue arguing with people. I hope those who drink the Kool-Aid are never disappointed and things are as "awesome" as they think they are. As for me, I am a realist. This is a paycheck and it will do for now.

but it is not as easy to find a new position as it used to be. Everyone ignores that I did note the good points and did not say I am unhappy. I am just saying it is not this "awesome" place that the other MT gushes about -- no place is anymore. It is a paycheck, and that's all any of the places are anymore. I'm just realistic. Because I note the bad with the good doesn't mean I am unhappy. It is just a job to me anymore, not a wonderful career. I am just hoping MT lasts long enough for me to retire, but the way it is going, I am not too optimistic about the future for this profession -- will soon be like phone operators and travel agents.

MTs (every single other place I have worked...and I have worked for a LOT) have treated their MTs like garbage. This is the only place in all my 20 yeras who has treated me with absolute respect. The ease of the platform and their dictators! This is the only place I have ever worked for that does NOT blame the MT for a horrible dictator. That about sums it up:)

with being written up. Absolute respect means good communication, which means answering emails, communicating about changes, being able to ask questions without fear of recrimination, etc. I have been an MT for 35 years and I have seen worse, yes, but trust me, I have seen far better as well. They do have a good earned time off benefit and decent insurance. Pay is 7/4 ... hardly awesome.

Just want to be sure my fellow MTs are well informed. If you apply at Teletrak, be prepared to be offered 8 cpl for 65 VBC line - this amounts to approximately 30% reduction in pay with the negative spaces. I would totally be leery of this job. They are liars and cheats and are always wanting you to work your days off and over, but pay you NO OVERTIME!! THIS COMPANY SUCKS AND DOES NOT GIVE A RATS BEHIND ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYEES. I have worked there 4 years and never got a raise, much less any respect for the 21 years I have worked as an MT. I went to their website where I tried to follow directions. They make it impossible. They ("Now Transcription") want you to fill out an application through "Accord Human Resources", then save it and email it to them along with your resume. But the application will not allow anyone to save it, or submit it anywhere as is. You basically waste your time filling it out just to find out nothing you filled out will be saved. I believe M Modal is the only place hiring part time that will allow satellite. I'm tired of hearing, "No, satellite is not compatible." Sooo.... Anyone have any advice?
