Hiring process for TTS sm - Old Woman

Posted: Aug 26, 2014

So, how long from hired to fully working does it take?  I'm going on 2 weeks now, but with the thread that was posted below, I'm wondering if I made the right decision.  Any info appreciated.

Took me a month - EX-TTS

[ In Reply To ..]
I was hired in and took me a month to get started. I worked there for over 3 months and couldn't get off QA. I wouldn't expect much. I ended up leaving because I couldn't make money because of being on QA. They are auditing crazy and if you need to speak to someone immediately, you are out of luck. No main phone number. E-mail only. You can't work if you are not scheduled. They won't give you a backup account so if your only account is out of work, you can't work and you can't make it up. I'd pass if I were you.

Had consistently 99% to 100% QA scores too! - EX-TTS

So no reason to take a month per work type to get off QA.

Ditto - another EX-TTSer

Never made more than minimum, horrible accounts that always ran out of work, could not get backup accounts because they would not release me from QA which I was at 99-100%. Needless to say, as soon as I could get something else, I left. And the minimum is not the state or city minimum wage where you live, they only pay the federal minimum which is $7.50.
Thanks for the updates on TTS - much needed

They talk a good story and are always posting. We have little hope because we all have been burned too many times. I'm still sitting on the curb.
Thanks for the info! sm - Old Woman

I have been in this business for 22 years, and I keep hoping I will find that "diamond in the rough," but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. :(
And I have a completely different story - Have never stayed on QA for days or weeks

I have one account because that is what I wanted. TTS wanted me to have another and did not want. I average over $20.00 per hour, no issue with them at all. I do my work, they leave me alone. Have worked there over 5 years.

The first 3 months is your probationary period. SM - Anon

and you get audited a lot. I don't understand how being QA'd caused you to not make money. I never had a problem getting a very quick response to a question by email, and you usually don't get a secondary account until after you are off probation and IF you are doing well with your production and quality on the account you have. It's not true that you can't make up time for out-of-work situations. Did you even ask if you could jump on when there was work? If you had stuck it out, things would have gotten much better. I log on, do my work, keep my QA scores above 95%, and no one ever bothers me. That probationary period was nerve racking but once that was done, I was pretty much home free.

Oops, meant above 99% QA. nm - Anon

I could not get off QA. There was one person who nitpicks things the client would never care about. Things like if I picked a heading from THEIR list of headers and it had an abbreviation in it, I was dinged for using it. I transcribed "blood pressure 136/80" and was dinged because he dictated "blood pressure IS 136/80". It got to be ridiculous with some very rude, condescending statements. There were also descrepancies between QA people. Finally I'd had enough and complained to the manager with copies of the discrepancies, rude notes and nit picks. She was great about it and took several days to review everything and then I was taken off QA.

So when QA gives you a long list of nit picks that a dictator or client would never complain about, it is wasting not only our time and money but the MTSOs. This MTSO was smart enough to recognize where some of the problem was and take action.

I'm curious to know how many TTS editors are told their production isn't enough. I can make expected production IF I get dictators who know how to dictate. One bad one and our good stats take a nosedive.

Rememeber, TTS QA is 80% done by NUANCE QA people in India. I think all QA "nitpicks" in every company. After all, that is their job to review and make note of every error. However, if you just make sure you are getting all of you labs and medications correct and stick to TTS instructions, your points off for minor errors should not accumulate to drag your QA score down. If you make a critical error i.e. medications doses or lab erros, that is an automatic 3 points off your QA score for each error, so of course your QA score would go down a lot.

Very Long Hiring Process.
Apr 03, 2012

I was just hired by Nuance and have received hiring paper work.  Looks like I will not even start working until maybe end of April.  It seems that everything here takes forever.  But at least we have a job here, for whatever it is worth.  So what if you are really depending on this income to pay your bills?  Then what???  I guess these big companies are not too worried about that huh??? ...

Patient First MTs - What Was Your Hiring Process Like?
Jul 22, 2013

I completed the application process and the online testing about 4 weeks ago and, while the transcription test was very challenging, I felt I did well.  I know there's probably no point in sending an email to ask about the "status" of my application and test because they are quite capable of contacting me if they wanted to. Do they bother to contact applicants that didn't pass the test? (an email I'd hate to get, but at least there would be closure)   I've read the ...

GD SOB! About MIST Testing Process.
Sep 18, 2012

Just an FYI.  I applied for a QA Editor position, which pays a paltry 2 cpl. I figured it would be a little extra money in pocket. Got a call from a gal who wanted me to test. Ok, I said. We scheduled it and another gal sent me an email with instructions to call in and enter a code along with instructions to read. I read the instructions, called the number, entered the code.  Got the gal on the line and she walked me through downloading the files, which any boob could do. So, I figured ...

Does The Testing Process Just Irritate Anyone Besides Me?
Apr 18, 2013

I have gotten to where if I apply for a job and it refers me right over to the testing process, I don't even take the test, I just back out of the application and don't bother.  I know I lose jobs, due to this, but that process is too irritating to me.  If I apply for a job and I receive a reply stating that they are interested in me and would like for me to test, THEN I don't mind testing.  I just cannot see randomly taking a test, typing 7 or 8 reports these days ...

Question About NJA Process. Cannot Find Information I Need To See.
Apr 22, 2013

I can find the policy about what to do if you have had 15 minutes of NJA. NJA instructions have been: If another job does not come up within 15 minutes, you can file an NJA slip through Remedy. But, if a job comes up within that 15-minute period, you are to do that job and the 15-minute wait time starts over again. -- In the first paragraph of the NJA policy. What most, if not everyone, have been told to do is to sign out whilst waiting for another job, and if a job comes up before th ...
