Companies who do not require a schedule. - Are there ANY?

Posted: Sep 14, 2012

Big company or small, full or part-time, good or mediocre pay, are there ANY companies who do not require a schedule for an IC? I have searched and searched...to no avail. Thanks for any tips if you know of a company who fits this description!

Are you referring to hours or days? - nm

There are some companies that will let you work flexible hours as long as you work the same days every week. Oracle is one of them. I have set days but not set hours, I basically have 24 hours to get my lines in on the days I'm supposed to work. I don't know of any that will let you just work whenever you feel like it except for Fox Transcribe.

Is this the same company that closed its doors and owed its people money that has just "reorganized?" I'd be very cautious about working for a company who felt their MTs were not worth paying the measly 3 cpl they pay

This one is out of Florida and owned by Michelle Madison, who always pays (and it is way more than 3 cents). See the other message board, she's had a post recently.

Good Luck with Oracle. I have sent quite a few Emails about a position and I can never get them to ever answer. I was wanting to find a company with lots of Op reports but not a required amount of lines per day but at least 25 hours a week. I have just given up anymore and I have been in this business for 33 years. Used to be a good profession, but no more.

Granted, MT is not a great profession anymore, but you attribute that to not being able to find a company who lets you work whenever "you feel like it", produce however many lines "you feel like" and of course, only do op notes. Demanding a little, are you? Good luck, and I say that with tongue in cheek.

Does Command Health Require A Set Schedule?
Jan 19, 2014

I have a friend that worked at MD-IT prior to the Command Health buyout. She is still with the MD-IT division (or whatever they call it now), is employee status but is able to work whenever she wants as long as she meets line requirement and doesn't go over 40 hours a week. Is this the way it is across the board for Command Health? I thought I needed an IC job for flexibility, but if I could have that flexibility as an employee that would be great. Thanks for the info. ...

I have 25 years of experience and am looking for P/T work on eScription. I have an Expert Certification in EditScript and am a fast and accurate editor. I am trying to find a company who has steady work without being assigned to tons of accounts in order to get your lines and also no set schedule. Question On How Companies Deal With Schedule Flexibility.
Dec 01, 2009

I would like to know how different companies work with you as far as schedule flexibility.  For example, if you are working second shift and your child's music concert was during your shift, how would your company (or previous companies) work with you on that?  Any companies that are especially flexible or any that are especially not?  Along that line, any companies that give you, say a 10-12 hour window to get 8 hours in?   Thanks for any info you can give me. ...

Why Would A Co. Require IE 7.0 Instead Of 8.0?
May 12, 2010

I got a call today from HR at Sten-Tel (Springfield) saying that they were getting ready to make me an offer.  (Would consider taking it on only in addition to what I'm already doing due to hearing issues about lack of work.) I was, however, told that having Internet Explorer 8.0 was a problem and that I would need to uninstall this version and downgrade to IE 7.0.  I've never heard of this before and was wondering why the newer, more current version of IE would be a problem ...

How Many Lines Per Day Does Your Company Require?
Jun 08, 2011

I'm curious, as this year my line requirement went way up and I was told what is required is "competitive" with what other companies require. I don't believe it is, and I work constantly to meet it. I wonder if this forum will let this message stay up--seems like anything that smacks of transcriptionists working together for anything like rights gets taken down, but... ...

Time Outside Production - Isn't It Illegal To Require This?
Feb 13, 2014

New to Nuance, swallowed up when they acquired my employer at the end of 2013.  I see they really expect you to spend a lot of time doing things outside your schedule, training, reading manuals, etc.  Other than a flat rate for installing and learning software (20 minutes, actually took twice that), they don't offer to pay for all this extra time.  Seems excessive.  Has anyone tracked this extra time and filed a complaint with DOL about it?  Or tried to clock into W ...
