to spell the abbreviation of subcutaneous? is is subcu or subcut? i have this argument every time with QA. could i get someone to help me please?

subcu: Abbreviated form for subcutaneous or subcuticular. When "subcu" is dictated and you are unsure which term is intended, spell subcu or subcut. Do not use the abbreviation sub q because the q can be mistaken for a medication dosage.

D: The wound was closed with running subcu stitches of 5-0 Prolene.
T: The wound was closed with running subcu stitches of 5-0 Prolene.

Of course it depends on your account specifics, but if they adhere to the BOS I believe it states to spell out subcutaneous now even though we know they say subQ. I believe it has become a dangerous abbreviation if I'm not mistaken.
never heard of subcut and when verbatim account I use subcu - otherwise I spell out as more professional
