I've got a mumbler who is saying either "hypothyroidism" or "hyperthyroidism." My only clue is that this patient has a high TSH level. When I googled, there were many sites about thyroid, and the majority seemed to indicate that low TSH = hyperthyroidism and high TSH = hypothyroidism. Is this right? I guess I always thought it was the reverse, but apparently this was incorrect. Any experts on the thyroid out there??
