After reading the ad from AssistMed, I am - interested in knowing SM

what they offer in terms of compensation with all the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the QA/MT positions.  When you read it, it sounds like the person/persons they are looking for would bring a lot of experience and talent to their company.  I wonder if the pay rate would come close to minimum wage considering all the variables involved, as we all know.  Anyone work there as an editor/MT?  I would love to know.

they are no better than any other large MTSO out there. They offer 7 cpl and 4 cpl for editing/VR. They offer the MT multiple accounts, but have overhired on all accounts and getting lines is almost impossible. it is 1100 lines for full time and 500 for part time daily. They have a lot of ESLs. They do offer a weekend incentive, but you have to get 40 hours of week day work in first before you can get the weekend incentive. you have to provide a schedule whether you are IC or employee. You have to work at least one weekend day whether you work all other weekdays or not. you work from a pool of many other MTs per account and cherry picking is allowed and rampant. communication is nil, unless you don't work your submitted schedule, then it gets nasty. they do pay on time, however. there is a way to check your lines, but the online system counts for you and in my estimation, they skim lines. it is never the same as what you can count on your own, with no explanation forthcoming, other than the system counts "differently." they pay 65 char/w spaces, but check first, because they will set you up as without spaces, unless you say something. there is no chance for raises ever. experience does not matter. everyone is paid 7 cpl and that is it. forever. they will no doubt start you on the worst of the worst, as keeping MTs on the really bad ones is difficult. They do play favorites. they do run out of work constantly. end of pay periods rarely have enough work for everybody. holidays are expected without extra pay. I know nothing about their benefits, as I was IC, but they must not be any better than any other place as I have never heard anybody brag about them. they do play games with the MTs, particularly if they don't like you, i.e. withholding work, threatening emails, etc. I think I have covered it all, but may have missed a few. all in all....ick. good luck if you decide to try. they don't care about quality, only quantity. and they sure don't care about you.

and the other poster pretty much hits the nail on the head. I don't know about the cherry picking, the acute care account that I work on it is impossible to do that because it's you submit the report then the next available pops up, you don't know what you are getting until its there. I never get the same doctor more thatn a couple of times a shift. I never make my lines, I have tried everythhing and I just cannot do it. I could go on and on but it just makes me mad to think about it. I actually had an email (its a populated, not individual) this morning asking for help from ones who are not scheduled to work or to log in early if you are. The account I work on always has work, but its acute care. The clinics (supposedly were outsourced when they went EHR/EMR) but I have my doubts, because on investigation I find some are still type clinic work, so. Oh, and my line count never agrees with their's, so I think they must skim lines. I think I am getting about 8 cts, for straight typing (but I think it;s because I don;t make my lines) When I was hired I believe they told me 8.5. Good luck if you decide to go for it.

as it sounds so professional and you would assume with all of those requirements, experience, etc., that they would compensate accordingly. Why go on and on about what they require? At least add the compensation to the ad: For all of this experience and knowledge we require, you will barely make minimum wage. LOL

I worked for them for awhile. They certainly were not the worst place I've ever worked. But the QA is a total pain in the buttock. (This was about 2 years ago, so may have changed.) My experience was that anything that got sent to QA was automatically reviewed and scored, with the usual types of QA inconsistency and even stuff that was outright incorrect, meaning the usual "polite inquiry" to QA, asking in the nicest way possible how I could have lost points for "X" when it clearly states in the account specs/BOS that "X" is correct, usually never even answered or, if answered, some bogus response that gave me no credit at all for being on my toes, doing things the "right way," and the resulting nasty treatment from any QA person who I questioned. I found the whole process extremely demoralizing and a real time waster, and as I recall, they could lower your pay if you couldn't keep your QA score up. I found the line counting suspect also, as a previous poster mentioned. I moved on to an excellent position and won't ever be going back to AssistMed.

Assistmed, Disorganized And Unclear

Was offered a management position with Assistmed for an extremely low salary (well below industry standard).  There was no organization.  Duties were "assumed" with no job description that was suitable.  The account manager I was working for literally "dropped off the face of the Earth" after I had 5 days on the job. The HR rep subsequently managed the account and had no idea how to manage. Was subsequently ask to "move to prodution" which my wrists don't allow ...
