C-spine MRI reading - neuroMT

Posted: Mar 07, 2010

Sentence dictated as "She also has a small C5/6 {s/l DISS}."

He's really emphasizing the "ISS" sound. I know it would make sence for it to be disc, but the sentence sounds incomplete to me? I feel like there should be herniation or protrusion or bulging at the end of the sentence if it were "disc"?  Could the "diss" sounding word be short for something?

Thank you!!

I'd have to hear it to be sure, but I think it IS "disc." - sm- Zircon

From what you posted, maybe the disc itself is small.

More likely, though, it's still possible there is a gap of some kind after the "diss" that you hear, especially since you state that it sounds like the sentence is incomplete. Slow it down, turn up the volume a bit, and listen again. Is there anything that sounds like maybe there was a skip in the recording? Perhaps he got distracted or called away, and cut off early, in which case that's why you wouldn't hear the "c" at the end of "disc". It would also explain the lack of a complete sentence.

He is saying "She also has a small C5/6 disc, uhh new paragraph"...

So if it were in fact "disc", would that be a complete sentence and/or make sense?

Thank you for your help!

I think so. (About 95% sure...) - nm - Zircon
