I am having a computer problem hope you can help...I have a laptop that I had to replaced the hard drive in about 6 weeks or so ago. When we first got it back, it worked faster than before. Now, less than 2 months later, it is really slow. I defragment the hard drive once a week, etc. but it has not helped. The PC that I use for work (I do not use for anything but work) never has had a problem with getting slower but with the laptop it is bad. Of couse, this is the one the kids use so I am not sure if this is a factor or not but I am needing to know is there some type of program out there that I can download and run on a regular basis that would help with this? It is so frustrating when my PC moves so fast. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated :0)

cookies, temp folder, and temp internet folders?

Do you ever run the disk cleanup before you defrag? Maybe that will help too.

One program I use is called "crap cleaner" that you can download for free. I use that when mine slows down. It will get rid of file fragments that get left behind from programs and also get rid of registry entries no longer being used.

It lets you back up the registry first in case you need to reverse what you did. I never had a problem with it though. Seems to work well.

With kids on the computer (and even without you need one), it's a necessity. There are zillions of them out there. I use SpyDoctor (it's a paid version) and run it often. It clears out tracking cookies, advertising trackers, etc. Just do a Google search for "malware programs" and you'll find what you need.

This forum will save your life and money. LOL. I have used them countless times and these guys are absolutely fantastic. You will have to register but it is free. Post your question today and you will have an answer by tonight or tomorrow...they are fast! My PC was acting really strange and I thought sure I had a virus/trogan. Tech had me download a small program and post the results. He was able to determine that I did not have a virus. Showed me which files to delete that were slowing down the PC and of all things....was able to tell me my CMOS battery had died in the PC and I needed to replace it. They are the best help I have ever seen. I was ready to take my PC to the shop, but they solved the problem and saved me oodles of money. Good luck!!

I need suggestions for more lines per hour. It seems like I am working right along and do not let any grass grow under my fingers but when I look at my lines, it seems it should be more. I have IT and use it religiously. There are next to no templates in this account and yet they expect 150 cpl an hour. When I get OR reports with templates it really goes up but there is very little of that. I work and am paid by the hour and only when I am in a file typing. Any suggestions for improvement? ...

I have done absolutely everything that I can think of and it's still horrible! I upgraded from WinXP and Word 2002 and bought a brand new, faster computer with Win7 and Word 2010. We are told in a very rah-rah manner to "Improve your line counts and this grid will be great!" There is not enough QC work to perform as it is when all we need is 150 lph. It was for using follow up instead of followup (I know better) and then omitting the word "the."
