Has anybody been able to improve on the sound quality at AP? sm - wondering

I have done absolutely everything that I can think of and it's still horrible! I upgraded from WinXP and Word 2002 and bought a brand new, faster computer with Win7 and Word 2010. I bought the recommended USB headphones. Although Spectra headphones aren't considered very good quality, the USB made the sound louder but not clearer. It still sounds muffled. I noticed absolutely no difference in the sound quality when I went from the old computer and the USB headphones to the new one with the updated versions of the programs. (I'm seriously questioning THAT major purchase, let me tell you!) I know this is NOT my hearing or my computer because I've worked on other platforms (Dictaphone and Chartscript) and the sound quality on those is crystal clear! This is definitely an AP thing. I'm not sure if the work is being re-recorded from some other server or what, but if anybody has any suggestions I'm all ears. (Add the sound quality issue in with all the other changes and potential changes to come makes for one seriously unhappy camper!)

I swear I could have written this! I've done the same thing...new computer, earphones, sound card and still have issues. Thought it was my connection so swiched that too. I usually send the report to QA and also send them an email. Not sure if that does anything, but hopefully brings it to their attention???? Yup...kicking myself right now for spending the $$ :-(

It would seem that they should know if it is the facility. I personally haven't had a problem with the sound quality, but my old XP Desktop with a good audio card is much better than my Windows 7 laptop.

My XP was better, too, but D told me (before everything else came down) everyone would need to upgrade soon, no more XP, so I upgraded. My XP computer was really old anyway and causing problems.

that Windows XP would no longer be supported by Microsoft and also that the AP programs would run much better and sound better on Win7. I notice absolutely no difference in the quality of the sound from one computer to the next. The USB headphones made the sound louder but did not clean it up. It's still muffled and distorted, tinny, carboard-boxy - you name it.

What is considered a good audio card? Maybe I need to change that. nm - wondering

I have been reading these threads concerning the audio quality for this company. I do not work there, but I experienced much the same thing with a different company. There is nothing you can do on YOUR end that is going to change the sound quality, so please, do not waste your money and time trying...I don't care what the COMPANY says. it is not YOUR problem. It is theres. These are quite obviously re-recorded files, most likely from a DVI system or call-in system. What you hear is what you get! THEY need to upgrade their equipment to obtain better quality re-records and obviously they don't want to do that. They want YOU to do something, which is impossible, as you have no control over it. I am sorry you all are experiencing this!

Not sure a sound card would do anything, although, it does give you the ability to adjust more if you don't have that. I'm not spending another dime until I find out what's happening.

such a discrepancy in the sound quality - some people saying they aren't having any problems and other saying it's horrible? I think there are more that are having problems than not, though.

I'm trying to troubleshoot something. Does anyone else have sound-quality issues on DSG dictations? Just curious if I should seriously have this looked at on my end. It's not all reports, but enough so that I need to look into it one way or the other. If I'm the only one, I'll hire someone to look into this. I am having a very hard time with sound issues. I turn it all the way up and still struggle just to hear the voices. It doesn't matter if I plug my headphones directly into the computer port or the speaker port. It plays louder if I let the speakers play out loud without headphones but I cannot always do that when others are around because of HIPAA and privacy issues. Why would one by one doctors who I have listened to for years suddenly have changes in the quality of their voice files? They were clear as a bell and now muffled or with static. I have a service that rerecords from the hospital server and then we download from the service's server. The sound quality is absolutely atrocious by the time it comes to the MT with most jobs sounding like they were dictated on a cell phone inside a cardboard box. I am presently using a Boostaroo which make the audio louder but does nothing to clean it up. Is there something I can buy that will improve the quality? TIA ...

Is it me or is it that the sound quality is getting worse and worse on these accounts. Ever since last year when they had the town hall meeting saying they were making improvements (e mails, etc.) and then they got bought, seems all that improving stopped. I know my hearing has not changed but it seems that the sound quality of the dictation lately has changed. It doesn't matter whether I'm using a cphone or downloaded voice files. On A LOT of the dictations there seems to be a whooshing sound (for lack of a better description) in the background. Has anyone ever complained through Remedy about the sound quality for Fluency? I realize this is probably futile with MM, but it has become so unacceptable. How in the h3!! are we supposed to produce quality documents when MM can't even give us quality sound??? This is so freaking annoying. Please HELP!!! What is the policy when you have a 22 minute dictation and the sound quality is so poor you can only understand may be every 4th or 5th word/phrase. I'm just wondering if poor sound quality (very muffled) can be due to other things than dictator using cell phone, etc. I recently started working with Inscribe, and sometimes it seems like every single dictator is very hard to hear clearly (static, overall muffled, etc), so I'm wondering if it's something to do with a temporary condition related to the Inscribe platform/server or the hospital. I quit in early 2014 because there was a sudden switchover of doctors in the acct I was typing, and they were the worst I've ever encountered. The sound quality was atrocious at Nuance. It was like scraping the bottom of the barrel. I work for a different company now that doesn't make you jump through stupid FIESA hoops, etc, and it's nice. Just wondering if the same crap dictation continues at Nuance. I liked Transcend. ...

I need suggestions for more lines per hour. It seems like I am working right along and do not let any grass grow under my fingers but when I look at my lines, it seems it should be more. I have IT and use it religiously. There are next to no templates in this account and yet they expect 150 cpl an hour. When I get OR reports with templates it really goes up but there is very little of that. I work and am paid by the hour and only when I am in a file typing. Any suggestions for improvement? ...

I am having a computer problem hope you can help...I have a laptop that I had to replaced the hard drive in about 6 weeks or so ago. When we first got it back, it worked faster than before. Now, less than 2 months later, it is really slow. I defragment the hard drive once a week, etc. but it has not helped. The PC that I use for work (I do not use for anything but work) never has had a problem with getting slower but with the laptop it is bad. Of cous ...
