Internet Explorer 8 Question - NCMT

It was STRONGLY suggested by my tech guy that I upgrade to IE8, as IE7 has many security risks. Not to mention Gmail and some other sites all post that little blurb saying "I see you are using an outdated browser, etc, etc, etc. But I use this PC for work, when companies do not provide equipment. As a matter of fact, this was a work computer that I bought from a company.

Anyway, how many companies, software, programs, etc are IE8 compatible? Will I be shooting myself in the foot if I download IE8 on this PC?

are exact replica when it comes to compatibility of running programs and visiting web pages. Further, major websites and programs are tested on all these browsers before going live. So you can switch without having any compatibility issues.

As far as you are seeing "you are using an outdated browser" is because Google has it's browser Chrome, Yahoo is patronizing Internet Explorer and MSN favors the Firefox. So when you visit these sites or their partners site using their competitive browser, they make you feel that you are using the wrong browser and should download the browser of their choice. Otherwise, there is no such issue.

I am using all 3 on my computer, Chrome is my favorite. Why don't you give try to multiple browsers on the same computer and make one them default after testing. There is no harm having IE, Firefox and Chrome on the same computer.

We use ChartScript and with our company it is absolutely not compatible with IE8. We were told IE7 only (no FF or chrome or opera, etc) and that was just a recent "upgrade" lol. For the longest time we were stuck on IE6.

If its not compatible, then just uninstall the update. - no biggie. nm

I have installed Internet Explorer 7 (and tried 8 too) and my Instant Text will not work. It doesn't link up (even though it appears to be linked). My version says Instant Text V Pro. every time you click on a link to anything? It even does it every time I click on a post here. Driving me nuts. Have any of you had this problem? (1) Most days, when I first start my PC, the desktop icons won't appear. I'll get the background screensaver picture, but nothing to click on. Can we use internet through Dish network. I currently have comcast and I absolutely hate this company. We got rid of our cable through Comcast and went with Dish.
